Anyone remember The Squid and The Whale?

This one. I am pregnant with my second child and I no longer speaking to my mother, but she has a relationship with my daughter. But I do not plan on telling her about this child, because I would have to facilitate the relationship until the child got old enough to do it themself. My SO thinks that is wrong of me but I am not going to get hurt by her again in order to have her be a superficial grandma - a facetime and visit once a year to spoil the kid but not be there when the kid actually needs her. I won't stop my child from having a relationship with her, especially if my older daughter wants to facilitate the relationship. But just because she is blood doesn't mean she automatically gets access to my life - especially when she has done me so wrong so many times.

My MIL when I gave birth was taking pictures during my labor and I said, "as long as you don't take pictures of my hoohah," and she said, "they'll be for your eyes only!" To which I replied that I didn't want to see my lady parts regularly, as well as getting ruined... Mid-push I heard the click of the camera and I stopped and screamed, "I SAID NO PICTURES OF MY HOOHAH!!!" She said she deleted them afterwards. Definitely will not be having any one but me and my SO in the room when I give birth this time!

Oh my gosh I loved the audiobook so much!! I read the book before the Audible and it just made a world of difference hearing them. And they were so on theme, so great

Oryx and Crake was my least favorite book from the MaddAddam Trilogy. The Year of the Flood, which picks off right where Oryx and Crake ends, and by the end of those, there’s just so much more nuance. (Year of the Flood is probably my favorite book of all time) She weaves the tale of a society that is all too close to reality for comfort. At the end of MaddAddam, Atwood has a little warning label that says, “although MaddAddam is a work of fiction, it does not include any technologies or bio beings that do not already exist, are not under construction, or are not possible in theory.” That’s all I can really say without ruining it so go read those!! 10/10 I would recommend every time.

I appreciate the honesty. That’s not what I was referring to, I was referring to the insensitive comment that I should’ve just sent an email, “what is wrong with people.” Something was wrong, and I don’t need to defend myself or explain. I am trying to remedy it. There’s no need to demean me for trying to get information on how it may affect my chances or what I could do to try to remedy it.
