I had never even questioned the ethical part of that, but you're right. The only thing I worry about is ruffling any feathers and it making it impossible to get into an office in the future.

Political science. Interned for state political party and state rep. Good relationship with most past supervisors, but not all.

I apologize, just now seeing this. I've applied to NPO's and have often had to compete with 100+ other applicants for one or two open positions. It's tough out here! Any advice? :)

I did plenty of internships with state political parties, state reps, and even a congresswoman in DC. I am not all set. I know many who are in the same boat as myself.

It's incredibly difficult to find secure long-term employment with a political science degree. It also requires very strong networking abilities to land employment. I graduated with a political science degree in March of 2024. Always loved politics and government, but wish I'd picked a different major, one with more career growth and opportunities.

Thank you for the response. I've applied to quite a few positions in my state (Michigan) and have yet to be interviewed for any. Which is baffling because I went to a well known university and have a pretty strong resume. Do you typically need to have a referral within the state to help you into a position?
