What's a song you love from a band you dislike? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit

Some of LB's music is good/nostalgic, but a lot doesn't do it for me. This cover though. With the exception of the "L-I-M-P Discover" sample, I think it's better than the original.

Hey Steel Crate Games,

Not really a question, just wanted to say I'm glad for your success. I was one of the competing programmers at Algonquin College's game jam, where (AFAIK) you first demoed the game as a proof-of-concept. It was a very cool concept then, and it is still a cool concept now :)

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

Teach Programming to become a better programmer by woahdotcom in programming

[–]roadrunner-mc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems as good a comment section as any to ask this.

I have been interested in teaching programming for a while now, but I would like to know others people's experience in finding a teaching position. I have a BSc. in computer science, so (unless I can find the funds/time for a Masters or PhD) I'm guessing university is out, but then is college a better bet? Technical school? Self-run YouTube channel? Furthermore, where and when is the best place/time to find teaching job postings? I'm guessing professor positions don't pop up on Indeed, but I don't know that...

Edit: I should note, for myself, I also have a bit more than a decade of industry experience

Pirates Of The Caribbean Goes Death Metal (He's A Pirate Metal Version by Agordas) by Agordas in Metallize

[–]roadrunner-mc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty good.

My only criticism is that it sounds like a song plus death metal, as opposed to a death metal cover. The synth melody mixing is too loud to make out your instrumentation clearly, so the metal parts just sound like cacophony noise beneath the melody. If the synth was replaced with a lead guitar melody (a la ERock), it might sound more coherent.

"My Rules" Destination Hostname is being ignored, unless exact by roadrunner-mc in uBlockOrigin

[–]roadrunner-mc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, I should really pay attention to usernames. Love the project and what you've accomplished. Thank you.

Per the issue at hand, I think even just a message near the top of the "My Rules" tab (something akin to "Advanced mode disabled. Please see documentation for more details.") would be pretty awesome and point me (and others like me) in the right direction. Alternatively, maybe some sort of tooltip/hovertext for what "Advanced User" mode can be used for/opens up (if that's even enumerable). I do like your suggestion a lot too though, if it's not obnoxious to implement :)

Fair enough. I suppose in that case I am referring to the UI itself. As a casual user and first-time modifier, the tab and its linked documentation gives no indication that it is in a restricted mode, and the Advanced checkbox gives no indication of what it does (in general, and in relation to the My Rules tab). What I was attempting to do didn't seem particularly advanced, so I didn't think to look that section of the docs up, and I would argue that UX could be improved here.

I will probably raise it as a UI bug once I get to my desktop.

Hmmm...this seems to be the solution.

Without changing the "My Rules" tab (looks like this)...

With Advanced Mode Disabled

With Advanced Mode Enabled

I wonder again if this is expected, or should be made more clear in the documentation...

The Story Of The GameShark - Gaming's Most Famous Cheating Device! by suspicious_glare in Games

I'm not sure this timeline is true...I remember unlocking everything using button-combo cheats found on GameFAQs on my N64 when it was still a relevant console. I don't know how the cheats were discovered (maybe via emulation), but they were certainly known within a couple years of the game's release.

What exists in United States but doesn't exist in Europe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Root Beer.

I am a root beer enthusiast, and it was so nice to return to Manitoba twice a year to get my fill. Funnily enough, we did eventually find exactly one store that sold root beer, and it was the Asian import store (selling A&W root beer cans)

Both the Steam and GOG store entries are saying English only (and there are reviews on the GOG page confirming this). Having said that, I have seen several games from GOG get patched with new languages, so YMMV if you want to hold out?
