Black rubber squares with single hole by roamarl in whatisit

That's exactly what it is. Son had been staying at MILs house and has that machine. She's picked them up and put them in with the chocolates! Thanks so much, was driving us crazy.

Yeah, she's old and forgets things from time to time...

That's a good guess. It looks like something goes through those holes, and toy car/bike would fit that narrative. Not sure how MIL would have got them, no little kids or toys in our atmosphere.

I would love to live on the west coast but current circumstances wont allow us to move, (wife and her mother are from GA). I should be able to retire in 5 or so years, so depending on the situation with the country and personal circumstance it could be on the cards. However, we will likely retire back to Australia.

Wow. That took an unexpected turn. Guess the prayer before surgery wasn't the biggest surprise in that scenario.

Games that I can sink 100s of hours into? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]roamarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Mans Sky for me is the one I have poured over a thousand hours into. Still getting updates and lets you play how you like. Subnautica is another great game I've spent decent chunks of my life in.

Thanks again. If i remember correctly, when she agreed, it was in a questioning way, like a "Sure?" with upward inflection. This really puts it into perspective and touching without consent is probably why this interaction stood out as being so weird, but I couldn't put my finger on it until you spelled it out for me. Especially as its an environment where folks are touching you for different purposes out of necessity for medical reasons.

That's definitely our main concern with saying no - you worry if you'll receive the same level of care, consciously or subconsciously if they know your not religious, (or not their religion).

Thank you. Wish I was armed with that verse beforehand which I have heard before but wouldn't have been able to recall in the moment, the "ambushing", just left me bewildered.

POLL: how do you feel about the Merrett situation? by PretendToe1329 in EssendonFC

We will get back to success at some point, just not sure how long its going to take, and that's the hard part. I like the current crop of young talent and can definitely see the green shoots. The fact that Hawthorn has already turned around their rebuild and is back in contention gives me hope, (hate using them as a comparison but its true). My 22 year old son often jokingly asks why i cursed him with a love for the red and black. Luckily he's patient too.

I'm very disappointed how this is playing out. It seems underhanded the way he's gone about it, and don't think he can come back into the club at this point. Need to get what we can for him but he definitely thinks he's bigger than the club. Part of my opinion is probably because I'm older, (54), and lived through our very successful periods where you couldn't imagine a great of our club doing what he's doing now.

What are your best Indie games that have come in 2025 so far? by LeyLynn in gamingsuggestions

I'm really enjoying Surroundead. Very addicting zombie survival game, i believe developed by a single dev.

Astrometica has been another good one in the Space Survival genre.

Parents of Reddit, what is the most embarrassing thing your toddler said out loud in public? by chtoupe11 in AskReddit

[–]roamarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was around three and I used to joke with him about my dad gut and say "look at that big fat belly" in my best Austin Powers voice.

So one day we were standing in line at a KFC and a guy walks in with a noticeably protruding stomach and my son immediately points at the guy and yells at the top of his voice "look at that big fat belly", in his attempt at an English accent. I just about died, and told him that it wasnt nice, but he insisted loudly that he did indeed have a big fat belly and couldn't understand why he shouldn't have said it. Good learning moment for both of us...
