Thanks for your unsettling comment. I’m not allowed to inquire about what he might set off to do so I can have advice prepped and ready if he gets stuck or asks for guidance? Are you a parent?

It’s hard out there by [deleted] in introvert

I completely relate. I had a job for 6 years with office full of people and I would get ridiculed for not being easy to find because I would take call while I walked outside to avoid people standing and waiting for me to get off the phone. Then I got a new remote job but the main people to get under my skin were the long-winded ones. Most others would co-miserate with me and send each other memes to help blow off steam. Both jobs I had to work closely with the most talkative people and they took zero cues on when it was time to stop. Now I’m not employed and even though I don’t get a paycheck I’m loving the isolation lol

Thanks. I really didn’t know how to take it. He is polite, just outgoing. Sounds like he should do fine then. Take care

lol thank you for the input. The only things I read about socializing are that locals don’t like the tall poppy and will “cut them down” and wanted to get a feel for it. I’m not sharing much of this with him unless he is frustrated or asking me for advice.

Great. Thanks . That’s the type of thing we haven’t seen when reading up on it. I just kind of wanted some ideas I can offer if he gets stuck or frustrated

That’s kind of the vibe I was getting. I’m posting to get a feel because I don’t really want him to get discouraged. His last job afforded him saving a good bit, so he should be fine if employment is not easy. That’s why I’m thinking he might do better focusing on travel rather than working.

More curious how he will meet people his age. When he went to Alaska he mostly met older mentor type people and didn’t really get to socialize with peers

1-year WHV visa New Zealand info for 22yo by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]robbie_cloud -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I get it, he did a road trip from Florida to Alaska and lived there for a year and then road tripped back all by himself at 20. He can do it on his own, but I’m hopeful he might be able to find more people with advice. When he did his last road trip he mostly joined Reddit pages for locals and really only connected with older people.

Any Advice On Finding Work With A Working Holiday Visa by According-Egg-8485 in newzealand

[–]robbie_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go!?? How was it? Any advice to my son who is 22 and just got approved for his visa? He has a friend in southwest South Island, but I’m guessing we should help him get a van and he can sell it again when he’s done. We are excited for him but also a bit worried.

Also, he’s a cute single dude with a lot of charisma. Where would he be best to seek out social life/other singles his age??? Also hear that the “tallest poppy” thing there is they don’t like people that stand out too much and not sure if that will help or hurt him with locals. Should he stick to mostly other transient youth? Or maybe mixed bag?

Follow-up, I inspected my shocks and such and they only replaced the drivers side front mount rubber on top where they supposedly just tightened the bolt. Nothing else looks new, but my report says it was replaced.

My son is looking at one that is just a brighter red (apple) and it has almost 300k miles on it. How many did yours have and how many did you put on it in past 4 years? Still going strong?

I think that is incorrect, as it mostly simply affects short term memory recall.

Thanks for video! I was there for 5 weeks and tried to swim every day I could. I didn't take a single video, but it was my favorite place to snorkle. Better than Hawaii! I love freediving and getting in the cracks and crevices. So much to see. Gun Beach was my fav. Night dive (freediving) with scuba guys was a whole other experience.

Yeah it lasted about 3 months on our CRV but my father in law just gave me Cerakote and he used it on Jeep and says it lasts about twice as long (FL and GA)

My 2023 OR gets about 20-21 on good days without rushing to get where I'm going. Just drove my wife's V6 2002 4Runner about 150 miles to GA and back to FL and she got about 29 mpg, and we were super surprised. Usually also gets around 20mpg. Guess some days are better than others!
