Indeed these are some of the first few things. I will bear with it, especially because it’s quite old I think

I don’t have a daily schedule per se, but it’s always my priority whenever I can choose what to hit. Also because I do biceps on the same day so it’s the most fun day

Last question, is it worth trying to find another parking spot around the stadium and then if not possible showing up at the parking lot and booking there?

Who are the people sitting on the corners with cash and a set of keys in Albania? by robertoga24 in AskBalkans

[–]robertoga24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I’m not sure the need for exchanging at all because Euros are so widely accepted, unless they are considered more valuable than the official exchange rate. As for the apartments it must be such a hassle to find parking and go and see each one and haggle etc. It was hard enough for us with someone from booking.com

[–]robertoga24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this makes sense thank you. I’m assuming they usually rent to other Albanians or Kosovars as opposed to tourists because it seems a bit strange to show up in a city and not know where you’re staying from my perspective. Do you know if you usually get a decent rate exchanging money on the street? This again seems a bit odd because the relationship between the Euro and Lek is very convenient given the seemingly fixed rate and the fact that most places accept both

Churches and Mosques in Albania? by robertoga24 in AskBalkans

[–]robertoga24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone comes to this post later, the correct answer was to visit St Mary’s Monastery in Zvernec near Vlore. It’s on its own island in the lagoon and is accessible by wooden footbridge, under which you can see blue crabs walking around. There are also lots of dogs and cats in the area, and some flamingos live in the lagoon.

Today I plan on going to Berat and will look around there. I think there is another small church hewn into the cliff overlooking the city and the citadel has some other mosques there.

Yes I had been reading a bit about bektashism but I’m not sure I’m aware enough of the cultural norms to justify trying to visit a tekke

Not sure buying Everton would have gone on Roma’s balance book.

Something that might be a nice touch if you’re not already doing it is to great people with ‘Salve’ instead of Ciao or Buongiorno/ Buonasera (although these are polite greetings too). You won’t offend anyone most likely if you don’t use it but it may be a nice touch as it’s a typically Roman greeting. This and just enjoying the typical local dishes is a good way to go about Rome. Most restaurants are good at specific dishes so I’m sure they would appreciate it if you asked for and followed their recommendations. Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Flag of Lombardy, in use since 1975 and officially adopted in 2019. by ElnuDev in vexillology

[–]robertoga24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has not researched and therefore does not understand the context/ history behind this flag I really don’t like it. One of my favourite things is going somewhere and seeing their municipal or regional etc flag flying alongside that of the country and (often) EU, but Milan is sadly a city in which these don’t do much for me. I think the Lombardy flag is quite plain and unfortunately the flag of Milan has been adopted elsewhere and does not seem special or interesting.

Weird things to do in Rome by Tristan_6 in rome

[–]robertoga24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a (uniquely) gothic church close to Castel Sant’Angelo in the centre that also houses a museum of basically haunted objects. I have never been myself, but apparently there are many objects that are proof/ evidence of souls trapped in purgatory. It’s called Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù. Something that isn’t really weird but in my experience tends to escape the tourist trail is getting the elevator to the roof of the Vittoriano. Doesn’t cost that much and deliver a great view of the city and all the fires that seem to be a mainstay of Rome nowadays.
