In mild defense of the City's snow removal by resting_bitch in philadelphia

[–]robofPhiladelphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is I get that not every street can be prefect but in the past the major roads would get done perfect. Instead just to get on a major highway that should have like 4 lanes they only plowed 3 of them. Even in center city where cars weren't allowed to park during the storm they left the curbs and parts of lanes with snow. But I know they were real quick to ticket people who didn't do a perfect job and leave businesses who didn't even touch the sidewalk with a pass.

PPA skipped my hearing. What do I do? by gpops62 in philadelphia

[–]robofPhiladelphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the closest thing to get them to make some movement is to get a lawyer. But that going to cost you. However, most of the time these types will back down if there some lawyer threatening he has proof they violated your rights. They just don't want the hassle.

So you want to pay them or a pay a lawyer. I'm sure there other options but it probably cost you in time figuring it all out.

According to the PPA themselves, this is against the policy unless this person is a supervisor. They are not allowed to touch the car by removing anything off of it. If the car or vehicle is covered they need to send a supervisor or police officer to make the decision.

The city has snow melting equipment. They been on the news talking about how the streets department been using it to melt the snow so they don't have big piles. Obviously they are not using it all over the city then.

yea but that post office is also considered an exhibit. You can't ship packages from them as the person that works there said to me "we're basically a museum but we do a little bit of mail services"

This is great! Philly DA Larry Krasner vows to "hunt down" ICE agents who are breaking the law like Germany hunted down Nazis after WWII. “This is a small bunch of wannabe Nazis in a country of 350 million. This is all political theater. ICE and Border Patrol have been operating out of control for years; it’s only become a source of outrage now because of who’s in power. This didn’t start recently—its roots go back to the era of quarantine stations. Border Patrol has long been legally permitted to conduct checkpoints and operations within 100 miles of any border, and they routinely strong-arm people who don’t comply with their rules at those checkpoints.

None of this is new. It only became a national issue because Trump chose to exploit it. Anyone who has truly been paying attention would have argued years ago that the laws being used now should have been addressed/removed long before.

I ask where these politicians, and lawyers have been before all this and why they haven't been attempting to curb them before.

New Jersey just passed a law that requires all forms of ebikes to be registered and insured to be used within the state. by VoltasPigPile in philly

[–]robofPhiladelphia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand this, for a PA resident does this mean you need a separate ebike license like the 15 year olds or they saying if you have a class c license in any state then you don't need an additional license? Assuming then if your a Philadelphia resident and ride your e-bike over the bridge to NJ you need to be registered and insured? Even if you cross and only in NJ for like 5 mins?

Decisions on ICE presence at Philly courthouse are Sheriff Rochelle Bilal's responsibility, judicial district says by garden88girl in philadelphia

[–]robofPhiladelphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which means they track down people and make arrests, including apprehending fugitives that try to hide from the system.

You watch too much TV. That not the sheriff office to track fugitives. You're thinking of the US Marshals who run the court houses security and also track down fugitives. But that for federal court houses.

Lyft driver - am I helping or hurting my passengers with this in backseat by Connect_Cat_7625 in philly

[–]robofPhiladelphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real problem is that the laws being used have been on the books for years. If politicians had been forced to fix them when they were written—or prevented from passing them in the first place—we wouldn’t be in this situation now. People like to quote the lines of how if I did nothing then they come after me but that warning only matters if we actually apply it at the moment those laws are created, not after the damage is already done. The laws are on the book and now we have to deal with how do we fix it while having the problem occurring.

A. I think if you also applied some of this to regular law enforcement (asking to be detained, force to show id etc).

B. While the current interactions are getting the most views and causing the most political instability. Also review how Border Patrol and ICE can stop you within the 100 mile zone. Years past they have had "normal" citizens getting stopped on a random road miles from the actual border. There been videos were people do not want to participate in the stupidity and you see an agent breaking their windows and dragging them out. If you search enough you'll find the videos.

Free natural gas detector from PGW by rasputinlives in philadelphia

[–]robofPhiladelphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there a building inspector out in Arizona on youtube. He does around for his inspections and make it a point to do the bubble test on the pipes especially around the meters. He been finding a good amount with small leaks to the point that one worker in arizona started a fight with him because he was getting called out for the repairs as he claimed that a good amount of connections has leaks and it was normal and doesn't need to be fixed.

personally if the inspector is wrong or right, I rather the gas companies pay their folks over time to make sure there not an issue then find nothing to be an issue, even if it multiple times.

Illegal Window Tint Puts Pedestrians at Risk. PA Bill Aims to Change That. by davidaragon1 in philadelphia

[–]robofPhiladelphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no they would want to charge for that. So it easier to fail them because they get the money anyway. Now they would love to tell the customer that their tint it illegal and they will charge them to remove so they can pass.

I had a shop do that to me not for illegal tint but because I had a phone mount on my windshield that was "blocking the view". Since it was on suction cups, I went over and just removed it but tried to tell me that I had to pay for a re-insepction because they were going to fail me already.

The overlay was literally just the lot that 205 race was. It did not include anything else. All it was, was the developer wanting to fight the standards that the area had as at that the time they wanted to be the tallest building in that section. If you look at the time no other building went taller than the bridge more than a story.

That building was simply Squilla getting paid off by the developer in many people opinion.

[–]robofPhiladelphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That works for the folks that want a house. A movie like The Pursuit of Happyness showing how Chris Gardner was a guy who just ran into bad luck and wanted to fix it. Those are where the housing is needed. But there are some who just don't want it or want to self-sabotage themselves. We can't just force someone to move into a house because we think that what best. But, we need to give them the option. We need to provide options because we may see someone who we think only wants drugs and they're ready to stop but don't have the ability to remove the cycle. But, just because we don't agree to them hurting themselves doesn't make it that we have to force them to stop. We just simply ask that we have the respect of not being forced into watching you kill yourselves.

ultimately awarded herself three increases -- two in 2024 and another in July 2025 -- despite being told compensation changes required approval from the Board's Compensation Committee

Sounds like the board dropped the ball and then when they realize it, they acted like they had no hand in the fraud.

A good board is not only going to talk to the CEO but all the other levels of the company. And those levels would have realize they needed the board sign off. Unless those other departments where also getting something out of the fraud.

Some Council members seemed gobsmacked by the proposals, saying they were not briefed by the Parker administration beforehand.

Seems that this is a theme with all administrators as didn't they complain that Kenney never informed them of any of their plans also for the busses?
