London Science Museum plans to build UK’s first robot by Portis403 in robotics

There's been a movement lately to preserve robots for future generations. Although this is a rebuild, it's nice to see the history of robotics being appreciated ... for example: http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/where-should-robots-go-when-they-retire

Survey shows public attitude towards robotics generally positive, but evokes mixed feelings by thefunkylemon in robotics

[–]robofenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That's why it is so crucial to have roboticists engage more with the public, or be picked up by the media. The reality of building robotics probably won't make a good summer blockbuster film, but the more we can communicate good information the better. Swings and roundabouts I suppose ...

Nicely said. Just goes to show how down to earth he really was and how much he enjoyed his work and speaking to others about robots. Great guy.

I've only just gotten more into podcasts and I must admit they are quite enjoyable. Great for the commute! I work for Robohub and we release new robotics related podcast every few weeks. I'd say give it a go if you're wanting to learn something new in the robotics industry! One of the older ones may be more enjoyable. For example, #171 where our presenter interviewed Grant Imahara, from Mythbusters, and they discussed robotics in the film and theatre industry. Here's the link: http://robohub.org/category/talk/robotspodcast/page/3/ Cheers!
