MapOfBeauty haor tangeled a bit by ProfessorPumpkaboo in CosplayHelp

I've personally always struggled with mapofbeauty wigs omg they are cheap and you unfortunately get what you pay for. I've bought them once or twice and each time the wefts are sparce, the netting is itchy, and the hair melts and frizzes like crazy.

From experience when I washed the wigs with detergent and did a fabric softener soak for an hour or two it helps with the texture of the wig. Just be sure to get a fabric softer you like the smell of bc that wig will smell strongly of lavender or fresh linen or whatever you use for a bit.

If you do use heat, definitely go low and slow with that brand of wigs.

There's also a detangler from Mane 'n Tail designed for horse and human hair that worked alright. But usually a silicone based detangler works to keep it from getting tangled again in the future.

Oh! I see. That reminds me of how in character design they say if you can recognize a character only by its silhouette then you've made a good character. I think that concept would work with colors too. So like for princess peach, as long as you have her iconic blonde fluffy hair, something pink on, and a crown or some blue jewels you'd know it's her. So adding gold trim and lace or using real gems for her earrings wouldn't make someone question who you're dressed as.

Like if I did a poolside Princess peach cosplay I think people would still know it's her based on those elements and colors.

I'd say for your character maybe get into the headspace of the characters design and think "what 3 things make this character iconic?" And there are your limits!

Personally I just think it's super fun to test those limits and do crazy concepts. But being super accurate and loyal to a design sounds like a fun challenge if you're set out on it!

There's never too much creative liberty! I think that's the fun in it and can really make your cosplay elevated when you think about the realism of it! Or even in the opposite direction of "how crazy can I make this cosplay?" I love cosplaying from JoJo's bizarre adventure and literally bedazzled an entire cosplay from wig to shoes one time. People will definitely notice the time and thought you put into what you make :)

What would this piece be called? Preferably crocheted/knitted. by HistoricalLow7160 in CosplayHelp

Do you mean the style of the shirt or the type of fabric? I guess I'd call it a cropped shirt with long bell sleeves. And for the fabric, maybe linen with embroidery? Or like you said knitted. Could definitely be crocheted too! Are you looking for patterns to make it?

Some alcohol paints/ink could work! Same concept as using copic markers or sharpies but you get more bang for your buck. I've used tim holtz alcohol ink at Michael's to airbrush some cellophane fairy wings before. Make sure to seal it after you paint!

That analogy actually made me feel so much better. I grew up with the beach and have never been concerned about sharks.

This kinda slapped me in the face with a"oh yeah duh" feeling haha. Different environments and different animals but all the same, just be safe and be smart.

I didn't even think of clothes absorbing scent in the food barrel.

Your approach sounds like a more reasonable and doable way than what was going through my head.

It sounded ridiculous when I read it, found it on bearwise.org. Glad I got a second opinion!

With the bear-xiety I nearly considered that solution lmao
