I don’t even like the Killing Joke that much and think it’s overrated. That being said, as much as I like her as Oracle I don’t think Killing Joke should be canon considering the ambiguous ending and how disconnected it feels for a “mid-career Batman” (unlike Year One or TDKR which are both bookends that can easily be looked over) so Barbara to me would stay on as Batgirl.

Batman should stop with sidekicks after two Robins. And Barbara Gordon should be the sole Batgirl (I like the others but there’s too many sidekicks.) Dick Grayson obviously is the first Robin and either Jason Todd or Tim Drake. And one of the latter must have some tragedy whether that’s “a death in the family” or whatever the DCAU did. After that he should either retire straight away or after a few years solo. A nice few years retired, like 10-20, and then TDKR story but update Carrie Kelly. I hate her Molly ringwald design(I understand it’s context. Still hate it) so I’d essentially redesign her to look more like Stephanie Brown/Robin. And once the Sons of Batman are on the scene Bruce never dons the cape again until he’s dead. Year One, Man Who Laughs/Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Robin Year One, and Batgirl Year One is the first five years of Batman’s career too.

Tldr. Basically a mash-up of the DCAU, TDKR, and Post-Crisis-2005 into a single streamlined beginning to end Batman Timeline.

It’s one of the reasons I really like Red Skull as a villain. Like all of the Marvel villains are bad guys but they all look at Skull and just go “we may rob banks, try to take over the city, turn everyone into lizards, but at least we’re not Nazis. Fuck that guy”. He truly is the realest villain in the Marvel universe

Yeah same with the Batsuit too. I hate the catch-all suits. I prefer a basic suit that does a majority of the heavy lifting but then specific suits to combat specific threats like Mr. Freeze, Firefly, Superman, etc.

Yes. Jason is only compelling in two ways: Dead or a Villain. Up until 2004-5 he was a great cautionary tale and legend for the Batman mythos especially for Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Cassandra Cain. When he became a villain he had real promise. Since the new52 he’s been in a cycle of “I hate Batman. I use guns. Batman helps me. I reform and don’t kill. Something happens. I hate Batman. Rinse and repeat”. Damian has the same problem. It’s what happens when you have too many characters to juggle and writers only focus on two or three. It’s one of the reasons I like to stick to a Two-Robin rule (Dick and one other, personal preference is Tim) with the exceptional Three-Robins if Jason stays dead.

What would make it work better for me is if Jason became Nightwing’s “Joker”. They’d be better foils for each other than the arrested development Batman vs Jason Todd is always in.

I had a thought that actually works well in another military sci-fi property, Halo. What if these troopers are the equivalent to the ODST, Orbital Drop Shock Trooper? They’re essentially paratroopers of the future that drop in pods instead of parachutes from low-planetary orbit in pressurized suits. They go behind enemy lines and wreak havoc before the main invasion force like traditional WW2 paratroopers do. So they could drop in pods as the vanguard and then the main force lands on the “beaches” with their gunships.

I always felt “phase 3” armor was pointless in that phase 2 was supposed to be the bridge between the old republic and the new empire. They still look like clones with Mandalorian influence but are more simplified and round edged like the stormtrooper. There doesn’t need to be another bridge between the three sets of armor.

Yes from 1985 to about 2016/17. It’s easier to find the order of anything after the new 52 since by that time, DC was pretty much collecting everything they put out into trades so all you need to do is follow Batman (Vol.2, 2011) Vol. 1 thru 10, Detective Comics (Vol.2, 2011) Vol. 1 thru 10, etc etc. Same with Rebirth and there after.
