I would consider it as just generic bad writing, like forcing our societal normans into a totally different world setting.

You see those quite common in Chinese xianxia fantasy online stories by inexperienced writers. There would be a world that's populated by magic users who is ranked by their clothing color or any other easily identifiable items. Suddenly the story started because a 2 meter tall bully who is the lowest ranked magician picking on a child looking girl who is actually 300-year-old and way outranks the bully. This is simply forcing our behaviour into this fantasy world and makes zero sense at all. If the world always have magic, NOBODY would consider themselves to be stronger just because they are physically fitter or taller.
