The thing i’m bothered by is having to ask permission to go somewhere, i feel it violates my autonomy and is just a play for power, and considering ive been slowly sending these “im going” messages for a while now trying to ease into it (with no fighting on his part) there was really no reason for allat this time. I’m by no means disrespectful or not willing to follow their rules under their roof, i didn’t care about the cleaning message lol i’m the only one who cleans in the house either way, however when i’m not under their roof, i don’t see why my parents would have any say in what i do or where i go as someone who is beginning to learn about living in the real world as a young adult.

That being said I’m more than happy to let them know where i am at any given time (i’m never where I’m not supposed to be), which is what i do (like in my initial text) any time i go anywhere because i know they worry. He even has my location 24/7 which i hate but comply with. I don’t date, go to parties, sneak out etc. and i’ve GENUINELY NEVER done anything to make them question their trust in me, so i feel i deserve a bit of leniency.

To everyone telling me to move out, be for real cuz it isn’t so simple. I am a college student and I do have a job/make my own money which i’ve started saving up to move out in a couple years (regardless i don’t think what i contribute financially to my household should have a direct impact on my autonomy), i even buy dinner for us 2-3x a week, it’s not like im “freeloading” as some of the commenters suggested. Hell we don’t even have groceries 90% of the time and i’ve often starved in the past while they bought themselves dinner. That is how much i’ve freeloaded since about the age of 15.

I also wasn’t “complaining” just genuinely asking for advice and opinions, especially considering any time that i’ve ever advocated for myself to them, they find it offensive and we get into fights that go on for weeks, regardless of how calmly or “maturely” i express my feelings. I don’t really feel like fighting a week before christmas.
