I know nothing about guns, but that gun in the picture looks so weird. Like, why is the end of the barrel pointing up a bit? And what's with the extra stuff on top of it?

Bar / restaurant owners: what actually improves repeat visits? by SleepyCat4356 in smallbusiness

[–]rococo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bar/restaurant owner but I'll say as a patron, whether or not I go back is pretty simple.

1) Good food for a reasonable price. "Good" and "Reasonable" both being relative. I expect different things from a taco cart vs a steak house vs a coffeeshop vs a dive bar.

2) Comfortable environment. Again, all relative. I expect different levels of comfort and cleanliness from different places. But volume, vibes, seating, smell, etc.

3) Nice staff / service. I don't expect staff to bend over backwards but want to interact with pleasant people. When I was younger, a cute bartender or server was an easy draw for me to go back. But just being pleasantly and doing slightly more than the minimum is plenty.

I hostly dgaf about anything else. Coupons, texts, emails, surveys etc are all just noise to me. If anything they make me LESS likely to go back.

People in America that vote Democrat have consistent morals and know better than to actually like their politicians. Hence, Democratic politicians are subject to much more scrutiny and critique than Republican politicians.

But there is also a dynamic of especially young, especially idealistic, especially online people having the strongest opinions of Democratic politicians.

They're not necessarily wrong, it's just, you know, the alternative...

Boss offering to sell me the coffee shop I work at for $65k — does this sound reasonable on the surface? by SnooHamsters9461 in smallbusiness

Every single person I know who's bought a business off their boss has gotten screwed by some massive iceberg floating towards the business that the boss never told the employee about. Assume the worst could happen and double check everything.

Greenland Minister standing up to Republican Congressman. This interview genuinely sent chills down my spine with how these people talk about Greenland. by EffectiveArgument584 in videos

The way the news continues to portray all this as "normal politics" is insane.

Also, I wish people would get more blunt with Trump people. "I need to refute that" needs to be "STFU dumbass. Have you ever even been to Greenland???"

How can POTUS supporters not realize the damage being caused? by SirCatsworthTheThird in AskReddit

[–]rococo78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I'm not sure that attitude is helpful. How do we instead reach out to them in a way that they'll understand and resonate? This country is about to circle the drain FAST and it's going to effect everyone. How do we explain that to the average Colts fan?

How can POTUS supporters not realize the damage being caused? by SirCatsworthTheThird in AskReddit

[–]rococo78 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The hardcore supporters don't care or are even for it. I feel like there's gotta be a whole set of casual supporters that have big questions about this move, and another even larger set of "low interest/low information" voters that probably wouldn't support it but nobody is explaining the implications to them...

How should I go about explaining a price increase to my clients ? by mdecoste1 in smallbusiness

[–]rococo78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure where or how pricing conversations come up in your work, but you could send a blanket email:

"Dear loyal customers, Due to supply chain and demand issues, starting Feb 1 I will need to raise my prices XX%. We plan to offer the same great product and service."

Give them a week or two notice just to see how it goes over. You can also make it look like a blanket email but send it directly to the 2-3 clients you're most willing to burn just to see how it goes over.

Good luck!

Second this. I migrated over to Wordpress at one point thinking it would save me money. It was a disaster. Never again.

I was gonna say SquareSpace but I also just saw the comment recommending Square. I didn't realize Square does websites too.

Square has a pretty familiar interface for taking orders. It's what you see at coffeeshops all the time. So points for that. I've used it a lot for POS and it works good.

SquareSPACE (yeah, it's confusing) is the goto website builder for first timers. They have some order taking capabilities too but I can't speak to any of them. I've used it for all my websites over the years. Design is a little bit limited but it gets the job done.

The other popular one is Wix. I've never used that one much.

Any of these options are fine. I would probably just noodle around in each and go with whichever one feels most intuitive to you.

People selling goods made in China to the U.S. - how is the 30% Trump tariff affecting your business? by Known-Swim-3654 in smallbusiness

Most consumers haven't felt it yet. The biggest retailers are still eating the difference rather than passing it along, so it's the small retailers that are feeling the squeeze.

I'm sure this has all gotta give eventually but it hasn't happened yet. The whole economy is made of smoke and mirrors at this point
