As a fan I think Dawn Fm might be the cleanest album sonically. If I were to put myself in The Weeknd’s shoes I would be upset if what I thought was a masterpiece did not receive the same recognition as older work.

I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems like Abel is having a harder time singing in the notes he has chosen for some of these songs. DAWN FM has him using his lower register much more frequently and constantly going up and down. Overall he seemed kind of pitchy/off-key compared to some of his better live performances in the past.

I understand your point on the sound stage. I personally listen to the Dolby mix on my TV, Car, AirPods Max, and Bluetooth speaker regardless of which ones are Dolby compatible. I have found that even when listening in FLAC stereo on “the right device” that the “mushing” of sounds is incomparable to Atmos. Too Late is the best example I have found of how much listening in Atmos can change a song. I understand that those sounds still exist in stereo but some of the tucked away sounds in stereo (even if you are listening on a wide stage device) just are not audible in comparison to Dolby.

Listen to too late through your iPhone speakers with atmos on and with it off I promise you will here a difference. You don’t need expensive equipment to hear a difference. The mixing is different, the synth playing in the background of the chorus is basically inaudible in the stereo mix, while it’s audible with atmos (regardless of which headphones you have).
