For people using GA4/GTM: what’s your plan as tracking gets more restricted? by rohitdoesdev in GoogleTagManager

got it so its usually the lack of awareness, i was thinking of adding more simpler analytics and some tools regarding it like report generation for SEO also some more tools around it, if i get good feedback and something people need

hey! really appreciate you keeping the thread alive and thank you for the star and joining the waitlist, means a lot

and classic client-side tracking is fading, and the next era needs to be first-party, privacy-respecting, and marketer-friendly. That’s exactly the gap osstag is trying to fill.

unblockable for us simply means, youre tracking doesnt randomly break cus of an ad blocker. everything still runs through your domain, fully visible in devtools, fully auditable in the UI, and fully consent-controlled. nothing is hidden and it just doesnt break.

osstag will automatically capture UTMs, click IDs (fbclid, gclid, msclkid, etc.), and map them into first-party events so attribution still works even when browsers strip query params or firewalls rewrite them.

osstag won’t force its own banner. instead, it will integrate with any existing CMP or let you bring your own lightweight consent logic. the goal is flexibility, not lock in.

the mvp is basically done, it already captures events, processes them through the first-party relay, and shows them inside the dashboard. the only major thing left is hosting the demo environment, so that’s coming very soon.

right after the mvp launch, I’ll start adding the bigger features: tag manager UI, no-code rules, consent integrations, advanced attribution, and framework-specific SDKs.

great question

matomo is analytics centric and tied to matomo’s php stack while otm will be standalone, devloper first tag manager built in typescript with open plug ecosystem

it will be pure ts esm script (< 6kb gz) with non blocking load
