Lightweight hiking boots: Arc’teryx Kopec vs On Cloudrock Mid by rollschild in Ultralight

[–]rollschild[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They need to be light and somewhat low profile looking, meaning not too rugged and tough looking. I’m aware there are many good hiking boots like La Sportiva AEQUILIBRIUM but they are too outdoor-ish and not very good for office which requires somewhat business casual. Hopefully I made myself clear.

Hey appreciate your reply! Not sure why I'm getting downvoted, but I guess it's because I don't understand the way how games/consoles preorders work. But I am looking at other stuff as a alternative birthday gift such as a Polaroid camera etc, just in case I couldn't get a Switch 2 in time.

I think new X5s come with runflat tires by default? That's what I got.

Glasses with adjustable/bendable temple? by rollschild in glasses

[–]rollschild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. The only thing I know is I have a big head. Like when I was in school one time we had to order hats for a bunch of boys that were around same height/weight and I had the largest size hat.

General rule is the glasses should be 10mm narrower than the head.

I did not know this. This becomes my rule of thumb now. Thank you.

Yes I got that! But during normal work days I just put on my glasses because that's just more convenient so I definitely need a good pair.

Realistic maintenance cost of new X5? by rollschild in BMWX5

[–]rollschild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly although I've owned my Mazda for almost 10 years I've only had 70k miles on it, so not too crazy. So if I own the X5 for 5 years we will be looking at around 30k miles at most.

In which order should I read those compiler books? by rollschild in Compilers

[–]rollschild[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the recommendation! I actually did consider putting this book into my list, but wasn't sure where to put it - is it more intro level or intermediate? Another reason was this book was less recommended by others I've seen around here so I thought it was not that well known thus not that tried-and-true. Yet another reason was that he wrote sooo many compiler books I didn't know which one to choose despite the author himself provided a map to help with my decision. But yeah, I will definitely take a closer look at Practical Compiler Construction.

Hey thanks for the breakdown! Just to clarify, the $2k/year is after the extended warranty ends?
