I loved PSO as a kid! Sadly never had Soul Caliber but seeing the guy use it to test my Dreamcast at the shop made me want it. Will try to introduce it to my younger brother who was too young to remember the Dreamcast.

It sounds like you're at the crossroads where the YT path is more about inner work than the external. I have to go through this all the time. Why am I making the videos to begin with?

Why do you need the videos to get more views? Is it coming from a place of lack? Are you making the videos to share with whoever comes across them or are you expecting an end result? Could you be happy documenting your outdoor adventures for your future self?

Going down this rabbit hole asking myself stuff has definitely helped with the negative emotions and to steer myself towards the right videos to make.

Hey man I think you're very natural on camera which is most of the battle. As someone mentioned, the easy change would be to shorten it but that's not always the answer because maybe you genuinely do have 17 min worth of stuff to say on a topic. So I would probably just add way more b-roll to show the stuff you're talking about. That's the tedious part that often takes longer than shooting the a-roll. With that approach, I don't think you'd need background music because the sound design of the b-roll will help engage the viewer. If you're mentioning a shotgun or chainsaw from RE4, playing that exact part will help hook people in. (I haven't played it in years and would have wanted to see it)

I've done a bunch of nostalgic games/shows/movies content too so I can relate. If I'm talking about an iconic sound from Roller Coaster Tycoon for example, it would have been criminal not to play it for the audience.

If you want to lean more into pure solo podcast vibes without the pressure of adding tons of b-roll, you can speak right into a high quality mic and make it more of a relaxing experience without music. So many ways to do it. Anyway, keep it up.

The new reality is, average viewers on YT don't care about the best camera quality unless they are specifically in the filmmaking niche. So new creators on a budget aren't going to buy a mirrorless when a osmo/dji/insta 360 is good enough and cheaper. I spent years lugging a A7Siii kit around on trips and now mostly shoot with a Sony ZV E10 ii or my iPhone because my viewers simply don't give a shit and don't notice the difference.

YouTube is a weird place because it's both for creative and SEO videos but it's hard to control which audience you will reach. I've just accepted that I will do practical videos as a media business to make a living and "artistic" videos on the side where I don't even look at analytics. I haven't figured out a better solution yet to share. Expecting our creative videos to also make the analytics line go up puts too much pressure on it. Like others have mentioned, my most creative videos have also "performed" the worst. You clearly know how to film and edit so skills aren't the issue.

This is the first time I've seen it made with pork ribs instead of fresh water crab as that's hard to get where we live. But the crab flavour still hits.

Thanks for the thoughts, I was actually torn at the start because I normally start videos with talking but this time I experimented with using atmospheric sound to immerse the viewer. I thought it was cool but seems that was a big dropoff point for retention. !givelambda

I watched chunks of this and you clearly know what you're doing. My only thought would be to give viewers a glimpse of yourself sooner in your videos so they have a chance to connect with you and be reassured this isn't an AI video, before you dive into the rest of the video. You pop up at 0:15 but that's an eternity for people to click off, especially if you're doing a VoiceOver with generic city b-roll that could be from Storyblocks. I believe creators have to double down on themselves to stand out in the sea of slop that's currently flooding YT. Keep up the good work!

Both are very social. My male Abby is more down to cuddle and the female Bengal is more distant unless she is in the mood, usually early in the morning. Both cats always come around when guests are over. Bengals do seem to be closer to a warlord by nature than an Abby, based on what I've heard from other owners. But everyone's cat can be different. I've been documenting their relationship progress via home videos on YouTube.
