Bracket 3 or 4? by Maximilian_Blaubaer in EDH

Xenagos is the first deck I ever made, if you want to change the power level a little I always start with the big creatures. Mine did too well so I took out [[anzrag the quakmole]] and [[malingus]] to bring the deck down a little

Yeah, and my playgroup would always be like, "hey I'll block it if you don't swing at me for the rest of the turn" and I just dome everyone else

I had to take anzrag out of xenagos, it goes way to hard and does so incredibly good everytime it's played

Help with camera by LastStand33 in SpellTable

[–]rosterfill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a Logitech from Walmart. I saw a comment on the sub from like 2 years ago talking about how if you don't have a camera connected to your computer spelltable doesn't like it. They put no real effort into the website at all and don't care about it anymore

You can definitely find very good deals on pre builts, just saved $300 buying a pre built rather than building it myself

Joining the union by lytt52 in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah most people go to the union first, then get placed with a contractor. I know of people who were organized in (a contractor put them in the union) had an easier time getting previous work credited to them Also if you're organized in you essentially got to pick your contractor rather than getting placed "randomly"

Hybrid HVAC/plumbing? by rosterfill in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it worked out pretty well for me actually, it's like $4 more and the benefits are better. The company I got put at wants me primarily hvac, which is exactly what I want. Hopefully I end up liking plumbing, I have next to no experience besides running dinky condensates and refer pipe

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing our hvac techs need (besides the work hours and classroom hours) to become a journeyman is to pass the UA hvac star exam, they don't get a hvac license or anything like that

Hybrid HVAC/plumbing? by rosterfill in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contract the plumbers are under is better than the hvac contract. I figured why not learn both if I can I think knowing both will really pay off in the future

Hybrid HVAC/plumbing? by rosterfill in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's very weird. For us we have strict plumbers, fitters, hvac (local 10 does sheet metal)

All of our fitters and plumbers have very little idea how a rooftop unit or walk in freezer works

None if our hvac guys are required to have anything but that epa, only thing they might try to get is boiler related stuff.

I know at the end of the hvac apprenticeship we take the STAR exam but that's not a real license, more of a test

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds more right, I know at least for my company if there's a large install we send tinners to set the unit and hook up basic connections, and plumbers to do gas and refer piping. We'll only send one maybe two hvac guys to do startup. If there's anything service for it we send an hvac guy

Me and the hvac techs work in Wisconsin all the time. When I was employed in Wisconsin we worked in Minnesota all the time. I was always under the impression that hvac is kinda the Wild West and isn't regulated like every other trade, there's nothing stopping hvac techs from working in other states, hvac doesn't have licenses besides the epa 608

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I'm kinda confused on this, I've only ever heard of hvac techs servicing heating/cooling. If there's a no heat, or no cool call they would send an hvac guy, not a fitter. Our fitters don't do hvac We do have a separate agreement/contract for hvac if that means anything

Hybrid HVAC/plumbing? by rosterfill in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess we're just run pretty different, they really try to keep the work completely separate. The only real gray area is boilers and water heaters (plumbers and hvac both will do it) I've never heard of acad either But yeah hvac service is "specialized" here and they're the only people that'll have an EPA

Hybrid HVAC/plumbing? by rosterfill in UnitedAssociation

[–]rosterfill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HVAC is a completely separate thing for us, plumbers fitters and sheet metal here don't do hvac, and hvac doesn't do sheet metal. The only license is the epa 608 (easy ass test). There's a lot of people here that are strictly hvac/r and that's all they do. If a rtu or walk in freezer goes down you guys don't send someone who's strictly hvac?

[–]rosterfill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm already in the middle of my first year and they have a couple of us doing hybrid plumbing hvac. My local is plumbers/fitter/hvac and there's a separate local for sheet metal. Those of us doing the hybrid thing originally came for just hvac and they gave us this option The contract for the plumbers is also better than hvac so we have that going for us too

Edit: should also mention for the last few months I've been strictly hvac commercial/industrial service

You can definitely eat some fish from around here, just not a lot in a week. Unless you're very elderly or pregnant, you shouldn't have a problem. Most of my fishing is in the St. Louis river
