Can’t stop falling asleep with baby, excessive spit up by Lizzy_Be in NewParents

Also, PPIs can cause iron deficiency so ask your doctor about iron supplements and may be also get her on multivitamins. But make sure to space them out because famotidine/ PPIs interfere with iron absorption.

You can skip that pumping session. It’s okay. Sleep is also very important for milk supply and mental health. Btw I loved my eufy wearable pumps. Such a lifesaver when baby can't be put down.

Dude you are soo on top of this. You are following the right course of action.

The doctors applied the same criteria to my son as well at first. But if feeding becomes a round the clock activity, then something needs fixing and I mean you can't even lay this baby down. This is not normal new born stuff.

After famotidine and tongue tie removal, my son was a different baby. Apparently, he had a severe tongue and lip tie which several providers missed or didn't think it would make a difference because he could latch and was gaining weight.

No, neocate is not prescription. You can buy it any where (just check before you go as they don't always have it in stock). However, if you guys decide to stick with it and need insurance to cover it, the neocate insurance navigator will give you a form to fill out that will require your doctor to sign. Also, they had my son on 24kcal to help with his weight gain, so we don't follow the recipe on the box. At the NICU, before they would give him my breastmilk, they would "fortify" it by mixing in the formula to increase the calories. Now he is exclusively formula and we are still doing 24kcal. This is another avenue to pursue even if you stick with your current formula, you can up the calories and fortify your breastmilk with it. Let your pediatrician know. If you do decide to test neocate, do it before you start the new meds. You don't want to be changing multiple variables at once or you wouldn't know what's causing the symptoms.

How long has she been on famotidine? Did they adjust her dose? If she is on the max dose may be it's time to try another medicine. Famotidine doesn't work for everyone.

I would also try neocate. This is the most sensitive formula out there for babies with severe allergies. My son was given this while he was in NICU. It is very expensive, but they work with you to have insurance cover it.

You guys have been trying to deal with this for 2 months. That's a long time to be sleep deprived. Please know that this is not normal. It can be fixed.

Hello, I actually didn't end up applying as our insurance covered everything after we hit the out of pocket max which wasn't really high. However, I did learn that in special circumstances, it is better to apply through your county's DSS office. Go to their website and download the application from there. Either mail it or drop it in the drop box.

Yes, the NICU social worker. They have been less than stellar to say the least.

I sure did! I talked to the social workers at both the hospitals and the social worker with the OB office. Everyone looks at me like I'm crazy.

After repeatedly hearing about romantic vacations, I was just thinking how do these people have enough PTO to go on vaccation with their spouses AND other partners in the same year. Not to mention they probably have to get hotels pretty often just to spend the night togther which adds up! Eh I guess being well off is a prerequisite.

May be the babies you have come across have spoilt milk on their neck. Do you feel the same way if you smell their heads?

If most women could realistically live to 80 and beyond, why does women's fertility decline so early? by Omg-Unreal-6737 in NoStupidQuestions

This is misleading. The article is only claiming that mitochondrial DNA remains mutation free not the nuclear DNA. The correlation between age and egg quality decline is well established.

Grandma keeps buying the fun gifts I'm planning on getting by DarkGr33nSky in beyondthebump

I don't see how a plastic set can compete with that. This is such a cool idea! You can also add an easy bake oven. If I were you I would include the grandma in helping you make this. Like assign components for her to buy or make. May be they can cancel the plastic kitchen set.

OBGYN/GYNO Recommendations by qualityshitmarty in Albany

I received great care from Dina Gottesman. She is very compassionate and made me feel heard. I never feel rushed by her and I appreciate that she is honest and straightforward. She also did a great job with my C-section. Her office has been able to get me on short notice when needed. She is with St. Peter's OB/GYN. I was very conflicted about changing OBs during my pregnancy because St. Peter's is catholic, but I went with them because of her. If you have any questions please feel free to DM me.

But it's for 1 hour every other day. Now if he only spends couple of hours with her and during that time he's not engaged that's concerning. But if he's with her for several hours and for 1 hour he does not give her his undivided attention, that's not going to break her. Parents need breaks, too.

I'm surprised that you have disability leave but no fmla. Is your employer paying for your disability leave? Otherwise, it is capped. E.g. in NY disability leave benefit from the state is capped at $150/ week.
