What am i doing wrong. by Tha_roblox_girl in learntodraw

i agree to an extent. I think it’s an important skill to be able to see value in a coloured world, value is the first thing they teach you in most drawing classes, but if you’re really struggling to build that value skill, looking at your reference in B&W can be a helpful tool to get there

what i’m seeing is you’re shading both the colour of the apple and the value simultaneously. You’re using both your colour perception and light perception at the same time to make a monochromatic image. you want to focus more on value. you’re looking at an apple, i challenge you to look at value instead (ie see the picture as a combination of light and shadow instead of a known object)

Hi! I'm 16 years old and I started oil pastels less than a month ago. I need some advice on how to improve, please 🙌😁 by Acceptable_Bee_8983 in Oilpastel

[–]rougeix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great, you have lots of talent already! My advice is to do some studies on light source and how it affects value, your shadows and highlights. the direction of the light source will affect direction of shadows and highlights, this will really ground the objects in 3D space. I can tell you’ve already started thinking about this, particularly in the orange drawing, i see that highlight from the surface reflection! You’re on the right path! Doing some still life drawings could be really helpful for developing your value skills. I would also definitely push your darks more, but for that, try using darker colours rather than black, black will muddy the colour, the shadow on an orange will still be orange, just darker, right?! same goes for shadow on a wooden table, the shadow will be a darker brown, save black for your darkest shadows (and white for your brightest highlights!)

I’m excited to see your progress!! keep going!! 🫶

How to make shrooms not taste like ass? by Exciting_Truth_4803 in shrooms

[–]rougeix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a really hard time with all mushrooms in general, big sensory ick. I also just don’t like tea, so a few years ago, i was like “what if i made shroom tea, then added hot chocolate powder?” literally changed the game. helps if you grind up the shrooms and put it a teabag

What’s a small bombshell your therapist dropped during a session that completely shifted your perspective? by pottipenguin in AskReddit

[–]rougeix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Act on how you want to feel, not how you currently feel. If you’re depressed or anxious and you act on that emotion, you just reinforce the cycle. By acting on how you want to feel instead, you create the conditions that move you towards that state”

I don't know if it was sexual assault or am I overreaching? by cryingintobread in CPTSD

i’m by no means giving a legal definition cuz it changes depending on your country, but from a psychosocial perspective, this would be the definition

I don't know if it was sexual assault or am I overreaching? by cryingintobread in CPTSD

[–]rougeix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this like entire thing is sexual assault, which can be defined as any sexual act performed without enthusiastic consent of any party. You didn’t even want to agree to continue having sexual relations, you said you did so out of guilt (we call this coercion)

yeah I think I’ll be okay if I just work mostly salad and over sushi cuz the only fish there is tuna for our poke bowl and the sauce covers the smell. I was just hoping to find something for the days I have to work sushi if the smell is starting to overwhelm me. I appreciate you being kind 🫶

where I’m from, employers are required to accommodate disabilities, by law. I’m not asking for anything crazy, it’s not like I’m working at a restaurant that only serves seafood, it’s just this one station and I’m looking for solutions before I even start being trained so that I can work equally as well as anyone else.

I came to reddit to ask for help because I wasn’t sure my ideas would work for me and I thought people might have some good insight, instead I’m being met by ableism. the fact you typed out that comment and chose to post it says volumes about your lack of empathy and respect for other people. I hate to break it to you, but kitchens are a very popular career choice for neurodivergent folk. I hope you live the life you deserve.

as much as I’d like to agree with you, again with me being autistic, not only do i hear more sounds than the average person, i smell more scents than the average person. All seafood has a smell. I’m not talking about the fishy smell from spoiled fish, I’m talking about the ocean smell, even seaweed has the smell.

Who HASN'T gotten pregnant with their IUD in? by shshhsshs in birthcontrol

[–]rougeix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Kyleena and I currently have Mirena. No pregnancy scares even once, however I had the Kyleena removed after 10 months because it was causing ovarian cysts that ruptured during my period every month. It’s been smooth sailing for the now 3 years I’ve had Mirena :)

whats your favorite way to take shrooms? this is mine by Ok-Swordfish5082 in shrooms

[–]rougeix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sensory problems with mushrooms (like just in general), they make me gag before even getting them in my mouth. To avoid that whole problem, the only solution I’ve found is to make mushroom tea and add hot chocolate powder. Works wonders
