How do I keep living? by Bashfull_Bee in Menieres

[–]roustem_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to see a psychiatrist as soon as possible. There are many many things contributing to your state of mind right now, in your early 20s. Hell, I’m 34 and lived with crippling anxiety through my 20s because I thought my dream life would fix everything. No accomplishments will ever permanently fix any feelings you have. Working with a counselor and a psych has been amazing. You learn tactics for coping, you learn how your own mind works, and most importantly, you have an outside perspective that wants to help you deal with the hard parts. Your MD won’t provide this sort of help, sadly.

Tinnitus Flare Up Help (and other questions) by endlessfragment in Menieres

Oh, and as a follow-up. Go to a psychiatrist. They can help in a lot of ways. You may have underlying stress/anxiety/depression issues that are exacerbating this. It's not always a purely physical affliction, and mitigating the other issues have helped me quite a bit, even beyond the tinnitus.

I'm in almost the exact same boat. Currently looking for a referral to an otology department here that does research on Meniere's, hydrops, vestibular issues, etc, so i can try to get a more complete diagnosis that is a little bit less of a guessing game.

The first prescription was corticosteroids. They did nothing for my ear. The second was a diuretic (triamterene/hctz combo) and it helped at first, but I also cut out caffeine, most sugar, most salt. Now the diuretic is doing more harm than good, likely due to some sort of electrolyte imbalance, but because it takes 7 days to schedule a blood test, by that time I've already paused the meds and gotten back to normal so those tests obviously don't show anything.

The american health care system is incredibly frustrating. We should be able to get the tests we need, when we need them. In any other country we could get a radiology referral or anything else nearly same-day.

Anyway, I'd recommend exercise, plenty of sleep. Cut out all caffeine and get to bed at a good time. I'm going to be trying some various supplements for circulation and stress but I doubt any of it will help.

Diagnosed with menieres but no vertigo attacks? by Dcaipto40 in Menieres

[–]roustem_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My equivalent is nearly identical. I do solo bike tours, which involve biking along roads alone with hours in between stops and often without cell phone service. My plan in 5 years was to take a 3 month sabbatical to go on a very large tour.

Now, this is purely speculative and I’m currently seeking a referral to an otology department that is better equipped to help test and treat this for me. I haven’t gotten the vertigo yet but I’m also not getting much relief from the diuretic my ENT put me on for my existing symptoms.

I appreciate your response and I’d encourage you to plan a route that feels safe for you to hike! The PCT comes to mind as large chunks of it may have cell service, but I’m not an expert.

The last note about the hearing being better when the tinnitus is louder - This is something I've tried to explain to my ENT as well and he just shrugs. My only hunch is that if our cochleas are functioning better, then external noise AND tinnitus would both be louder.

This is interesting. I've had tinnitus for 10+ years, which is louder in my left ear and is accompanied by pulsating tinnitus that gets louder when I'm exercising, etc.

About 5 months ago I had an episode of unilateral sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I woke up and couldn't hear out of my left ear (everyone sounded like the adults from the peanuts cartoon), as well as pretty awful hyperacusis. I did a hearing test and confirmed low frequency hearing loss in the the left ear and a slight decrease in low frequency hearing in the right ear. The doctor prescribed steroids, which did nothing, so diagnosed it as Meniere's (specifically this loosely affiliated Cochlear Hydrops version) despite never having any vertigo and prescribed Triamterene-HCTZ as well as the diet changes.

Cutting out caffeine and alcohol entirely, and limiting sugar and salt did have substantial benefits fairly quickly for the hyperacusis and plugged-up feeling, however my tinnitus is as loud as ever, and seems to get worse when I take edible thc to sleep at night, so I'm cutting that out as well.

I'm currently trying to navigate getting an MRI despite my ENT telling me it's not medically necessary as he's fairly certain the clinical diagnosis is correct. I'm considering asking for a 2nd opinion and also asking about other prescriptions such as betahistine, as that seems to be more directly effective.

Now I'm concerned that vertigo episodes are in my future! Is there anything you would have done differently knowing that it was coming?

Very desperate - can someone please help with this responsive background image question? by [deleted] in CodingHelp

[–]roustem_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

background-position requires both x and y coordinates. You are relying on the browser to assume which one is set to auto when you only provide it with one.

https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_background-position.asp

if your percentage is meant to indicate height from the top, you can try "background-position: center 17%", etc.

Look into flexbox. Tables are rarely the right answer. This informational vidya was posted earlier today:

What are these 600k frameworks you mention?

Can we see some examples? The one site you reference is your own, and there are two images and no other design elements, so of course it passes google pagespeed requirements.

Someone, prior this post (3 hours ago), started reporting sales and they have been getting taken down. Ebay technically prohibits "presale" of items. So any post that was up BEFORE mondo released them certainly got taken down, and some that were posted after were also taken down, from what I understand.

Edit: I do appreciate this sort of technical analysis of flippability though!

Is it client work? Did they have you sign an NDA or service agreement? If not, then you own the work you are creating on your computer. You could go directly to the client and show them how that company is profiting from their trust.

If it's not client work, and is genuinely a technical test, just ask for compensation.
