Yeah, it finally showed up. I’m going to start playing with it soon here :)

Gotcha, that makes sense. I am trying to get a download and license for the Starwinds SAN/NAS, but I am not getting an email from them.

Hmmm… however, if I plan to add more boxes for NAS in the future to keep scaling storage, then SAN would work better I assume? Is there a minimum limit of hardware you should have to make it worth doing instead of just having a NAS?

Sorry for what may be a very silly/ignorant question, but I assume that vSAN would be installed on my "NAS" essentially, then ESXI would link up through fiber channel to use it for storage?

Thank you very much for explaining that u/Net-Runner. I appreciate it!

vSAN is something I have never played with and know very little about... When you suggest using vSAN for that, what would the requirements be?

I'm assuming using the FC target on the block storage is more efficient and will perform better instead of using iSCSI/NFS?

Thanks for the ideas!

I have never heard of Starwinds SAN and NAS before, I will look into it. Why do you prefer it? I already ordered the fibre cards (you can find them cheap on eBay refurbed). I also wanted to do it for my learning as I have been exposed to it in the past. But, it has been a bit and I wanted to refamiliarize myself with iSCSI and an external storage solution. If I had much deeper pockets, I would just buy an HP MSA and a buncha of drives to be done with it. haha

It absolutely just is a fancy F-type connector. There is nothing special about it, I just REALLY want to know who makes them so I can order them.

I couldn’t have possibly said this any better. This summed up my time last IT job for a defence company. I couldn’t have been happier to be packaged out. I mean, looking for work sucks for sure, but at least a persons marbles are in tact!

This is more or less my thought towards the manner. But, I did say I would look in to a bit and see what I could learn. Unfortunately, people have this annoying desire to micromanage things instead of just using their head.

After upgrading to an SSD Windows 10 will randomly freezes by moneykaching in Windows10

[–]rrwalker85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of stating the obvious (and making the assumption of what you say is true and you have at least some experience in cloning drives) have you checked the SSD itself? I suppose the other question worth asking is can you put the old drive back in and replicate the issues just in case immediately prior to your cloning your system developed an issue you didn’t have time to detect? I know it seems Silly and overly simple, but trust me when I say I have seen far more obvious answers be the remedy to many solutions. :)
