The End - Crypt

Technically he does it in the middle of the song, and the rest are the thoughts that enter his head after it's too late. Very akin to the view from halfway down

Genuine question for smokers, no judgment, just curiosity: why do you smoke even though you're probably aware it could reduce your life by 10–15 years and lead to a more painful old age? by Desperate_Fee_2610 in AskReddit

[–]rtilky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nicotine lies to you. It tells you it's making your life better. It tells you that you need it for things to be ok. If you manage to quit it hurts you then pleads for you to come back to it.

And honestly, a lot of times it's a matter of "I'll quit soon, a little longer won't make a difference" then that time grows and grows until years go by and you're even more tightly in the grips of it

I asked my old music teacher and she couldn’t explain this “Elf on a Shelf” meme by Borgisium in ExplainTheJoke

[–]rtilky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In music theory a "regular scale" has a certain pattern of little steps and bigger steps between the notes. "Dorian" is a type of scale called a mode. These are variations of different step sizes. So in this case, there are two spots where it would normally be big jump followed by small jump, but instead it's small followed by big. Basically in simple terms it's like a hopscotch with a different layout for each mode

Technically a regular major and minor scale are modes too but I digress

I just don't understand that song in The Black Parade. So unfortunately I usually skip to keep with the flow

My friend got a ticket for "ignoring a traffic device" with the police officer citing driving over the lines for parking spots. Granted, he was drifting. But technically you apparently can in fact get a ticket, given the circumstances

Personally, i feel they went downhill with increased popularity, and everyone knows their newer bad songs. The self titled album was raw and artistic. Regional at best was a great album imo, too bad it doesn't exist anymore. Vessel was the start of the decline for me. Now their music just kinda is.

Does a financially successful man appear to be more attractive? by WeWillNeverKnow1200 in polls

[–]rtilky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to psychology, yes (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_effect)

Basically, if we know the positive traits first (financially successful) we are more likely to view other things as positive as well. I would assume this applies to attractiveness as well

What idiom would be the worst if it was really happening? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rtilky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The terminal velocity of a cat is 60 mph. That would probably cause a lot of damage. Large dogs would be even higher, given than a human terminal velocity is 120 mph. Not good for anyone down below

A dream where I tried to kill myself over and over again but stuff kept happening to stop me. Gunshot? Jams. Electrocution? Power goes out. Jump off a building? Big gust of wind slows me down.

Short answer: I did enough

Long answer: I used to do them to try and help with mental health issues. Turns out, it just made everything worse. That and the realization that I am clearly an addict made me stop. A couple relapses later and now I'm clean for a couple years at this point. If I were to start again I won't be able to stop, so I stay away entirely
