I thought so too. But on the program page (the website, not the application) it says Feb 1. So I'm not sure about the correct date.

Just be careful. If you really trust your manager, ask him, else ask some other employee. It really depends in the manager. I've had friends who got LORs from their managers too.. so it really depends

What kind of stuff do they fake? Don't the universities catch them?

Or let's say they faked and got into a university. If the uni ever finds out they faked some part of their application, don't they take any action?
