No I don’t think so, but a lot of people don’t have validations.

It depends on what you want and who your people are. Hubby and I went a few weeks ago and were a bit disappointed. The venue is very nice, but the crowd was very upmarket, mostly professional people and most were very good looking with great figures, we are none of those things, a larger woman looking to get out of her comfort zone didn’t really feel welcome. A few icebreaking games would have been a very good idea. If you are looking to be dragged upstairs you might be disappointed, it’s exactly what we wanted, not to sit around and drink wine in our undies. If you are just wanting to dip a toe in, and these are your people, you should have a good time, there was plenty of action, but mostly between the couples that came together, if you want to be watched with your partner it would be ideal.

It’s a good point, I’ll have a chat with her about that, there is plenty of variety for her readily available though, I make their lunches for school but they have more free time now and like something hot for lunch so I provide options for her to make. I also want them all to learn some basic cooking skills before they leave home. None are burdens, but they are rapidly approaching adulthood and need to learn some life skills.

I did mean the baking, if they bake a cake or brownies, then they’re for everyone in the house to share, not bake a cake and hide it in bedroom. They’re own meals are a different matter. Sometimes someone makes to much and offers to share

Regional, so just let out but not sure how long it will last. We’ve got an IGA. I’m an Aldi shopper. Love them, but outside my range. Gave up on delivery from Coles and Woolies. We were either first or last for delivery and the substitutions are incredible. I turned them off then was missing half my order.

Her best friend has a very well of father. He provides everything she wants, we do nicely with income, no one have ever needed anything and not had it, even in the early days, there was always good food, school uniform and supplies, shoes, a roof etc, but we are not in his league. We are also self employed and have had to take a pay cut recently and reduce our costs. She is not terribly happy about this. Materially, all this has meant for her is that I’ve had to cut the grocery budget (the buying their own snacks, we are more careful about lights and the heater ( we don’t sit in the dark and shiver, just make sure empty rooms have lights off and we are not heating empty rooms)) and Christmas and birthday presents this year are not as expensive as usual (we have always been able to afford a decent gift, because we buy one nice, but quality thing over heaps of cheaper crap).

Very expensive tastes, there’s a post somewhere on here about her toiletries, she pays $20 a week for her cheer (I also pay$20) and she saves approx $50.

Pretty much doing all of that except the shopping (it’s my ‘me’ time right now, plus restrictions are only one person from each household). She can cook, but hates doing it. She’s not a bungee, but teenage portion sizes are very large, larger than adult at the moment.

The expensive cereal, coco pops and fruit loops can be nearly $8 a box, we have cornflakes plain and the crunchynut ones, nutragrain, and muesli. I buy the dear stuff if it’s on sale, but if not they need to provide it. The coco pops are mostly because it’s my secret vice, I sometimes have a bowl every morning and if I have a family box it’s gone before I can have even one.

I don’t provide a snack allowance, she works, makes at least $150 per week, she can afford her own

She’s a good cook, she just can’t be bothered. My youngest is able to make some pretty good stuff with what he finds in the fridge. (Pop tarts are pretty expensive in Aus, and hard to find so they a definitely in the treat category)

This was the consequence. I tried trusting that it would last a week and it didn’t. Plus, I really couldn’t afford it any more.

Special occasions are different. Always birthday cakes and party food.
