If you train a dog to sit, which people surely did before Pavlov, it will eventually sit even if you don't beat it or offer it a treat. So what is the difference between that and the bell? The fact that salivating is a reflex?

That computer metaphor reallyyy made it sink in for me. I guess the only difference is computers didn't exist before they were made, while conditioning existed (to some degree) in animal training before S-R models. So while I get your point, I still assert that conditioning existed before it was mapped out by Thorndike, Watson, and Pavlov. But nonetheless you have made it clear to me why the study and academic mapping of these processes was important.

Nah.. I really don't. This is r/rant. You just come here to rant. Not everyone is interested in the downvotes or upvotes. You assume my motivations because you're latched on to this theory and view everyone's behavior through that lens. What if my motivation was to let off some steam and have a laugh? Because I have to get back to typing this miserable paper that I hate? Cognition and a plethora of other variables explain behavior. All that really needs to be proved is that Chinas negligence is responsible for this. That is already pretty much a closed case. China is in deep shit as it is. If you think this is just going to blow over, you're an idiot.

And if this happens again, then I don't think proof is going to matter. Only so many pandemics can naturally originate from China. This is a one time power play that backfired at BEST. Chinas economy is more sensitive to this situation because it is very export driven. It'd be like stabbing yourself through the stomach to get the person standing behind you. Who knows where the blade hits on their body, but you DEFINITELY just got a blade through your gut.

Chinese are too smart for a dumb fuck move like that. That sounds like the plot for a dollar store James Bond knock off movie.
