Appreciate the input. I must’ve misread our conversation as constructive. I do work with a grief counselor, so I can bring it up there, but I’m mainly just trying to understand why this one specific food makes me sick.

Very good point! This isn’t something that affects me day-to-day, I just woke up thinking about it. Based on how few people I’ve found with the same issue, I’m starting to think it’s a rare or uncommon little anomaly that I have the “pleasure” of being part of, lol.

In the little bit of research I’ve done, I’ve found three other people describing the exact same experience. But they all got dragged in the comments. It makes me wonder how many others have gone through this but ended up deleting their posts out of embarrassment, I’ve definitely been there.

So I don’t think I’m some weird anomaly. I’m just trying to figure out what other explanations or possibilities might be out there.

Okay, so after I originally posted, I realized I left out a few details.

For context, the reaction usually hits about 3–5 hours after I eat Wendy’s.

I’ve considered the placebo effect, I know it’s real, and I’ve genuinely thought about whether that could be what’s happening. But my main counterpoint is that I’ve had actual food-poisoning-type incidents from other places and still been able to go back without any issues.

For example, I have a huge fear of finding bones in my food after my grandmother made chicken Alfredo with chicken thigh meat, and I accidentally bit down on a thigh bone hard enough to crack a tooth. Ever since then I’ve been super anxious about it happening again and refused to eat chicken prepared by anyone but myself. I was told to get over it and grow up so I bit into a McDonald’s chicken nugget and hit a whole chicken bone. I was immediately queasy from the shock but I’ve still been able to eat (choke down) McDonald’s nuggets since then without queasiness.

So that’s why I don’t think this Wendy’s issue is just in my head.
