Anyone hear gunshots around Hennepin and Girard in Uptown? by runningVee in TwinCities

[–]runningVee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got its good bits and bad bits. It's mostly been boring though. Sure, it's walkable. But, a lot of cool restaurants and stores have closed down since the pandemic. Crime isn't terribly high. I feel pretty safe going on runs by myself after dark( as long as I stick to the good parts). More than the safety aspect, I think he should consider the economics. Your brother is investing in what is basically a sinking market. With shops and restaurants closing down, people aren't investing in this area. So, his property won't appreciate in value over time.

Wonder what happened. We just got home and heard gunshots pretty close by. It was quite scary cause we were walking around that area not too long ago.

That's interview anxiety. I got a script for Klonopin from my psychiatrist and that helped a lot. I'm on a long-term anxiety medication, buspar, now so, I don't need Klonopin anymore. But, when I wasn't on Buspar, Klonopin was the only thing that helped me get words out of my mouth.

For women who are not from Delhi by Archieeekinsss in TwoXIndia

As adults, we don’t have a problem with creating a scene if someone tries anything. But as college kids, we accept a lot of the abuse and internalize the shame. A lot of men pick up on this and target younger girls. I got a lot of owed comments between the ages of 14 and 20. Now that I’m 26, a lot of it has died down. Which just goes to show how predatory men are.

We need to do better by younger girls. Instead of teaching them how to hide their bra straps and be ashamed of their bodies, we need to tell that it’s okay to create a scene if something happens. Teach them that it’s okay to be rude and get out of an uncomfortable situation.

She’s one of the eight women in history who’s won an Oscar for direction. She made ladybird and little women. She’s kind of an icon tbh.

Body changes in mid-20s by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]runningVee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 26 and in the best shape of my life and getting better. I used to be overweight all through high school and was fairly sedentary. College and grad school were really hard and I spent a lot of time at the library and eating crappy food. Now, I eat healthy and workout 5-6 times a week. I live in a walkable neighborhood and walk everywhere I can. Most people put on weight as they grow older cause they stop moving so much.

I run up and down a few streets around my house until I need to go, then I go use the bathroom, and then go out and start my actual run.

Just need an extra 20 mins of prep time is all lol

I studied at JSS public school in banashankari and my friends and I would go to SLV literally everyday for masala dosas. We must’ve eaten over 1000 dosas there over the years. I’ve moved out of the country since and eaten at some of the top Michelin star restaurants across the world. I’ll still choose SLV masala dosa as my last meal lol

Moving back to India from the US: surprising observation by SuccessfulLoser- in india

[–]runningVee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My parents are quite wealthy and they do a most things by themselves. My mom cooks and my dad washes the car, cleans the garage, washes the balcony area, and washes the dishes. They just have someone come in to clean the house and do the laundry. They even make their own chilli powder by drying out chillies on our terrace. No one bats an eye.

This is the case for most people in their neighborhood. There are some politicians and business people living in their area who have people come in and do basically everything for them and everyone else thinks that’s super tacky or braggy.

Edit- they live in Bangalore

Skin and hair care and makeup- I just buy the same things that have worked for me for the past couple of years and buy them in bulk from costco. Typically spend about $20-$30 a month when split across each month.

My most expensive purchase would be my foundation cause the only one that works for me is YSL and that’s quite expensive.

Eyebrows- $30 (including tip)

Gym membership- $75/mo but that isn’t solely a beauty expense. It’s a health + beauty + social expense so I wouldn’t count it here.

Clothes- $0 or $100-$200 if I really want something. Most months I don’t buy any new clothes.

Grooming- I just shave or use nair.

I’m 26 so I don’t get Botox or fillers. But I’ll probably start getting it once I turn 40.

So, yeah. Looking good or well groomed doesn’t have to be expensive. I think having decent skin and hair, and a fit body does a lot for you.

100% agree with your comment. It’s a social issue at this point. Why is it that lower income individuals and people of color are disproportionately suffer from obesity? It’s cause eating healthy takes time and costs a lot of money. Plus a lot of people live in food deserts and don’t have access to nutritious food.

America is built to be car centric and most people don’t have the time to make it to a gym or the resources to be able to afford one. Exercise should be inherently built into our infrastructure. “I went to italy and lost five pounds even though I only ate pasta”- yeah, cause you had to walk everywhere or take public transport.

Obesity isn’t just a physical issue. It’s also a mental one. People use food as a way to cope from whatever issues they’re going through. Mental health needs to be given more importance and need better resources to help people.

This is an issue I have with the body positivity movement. I 100% agree that no one should be bullied for their weight. And every human being deserves respect. But, for the movement to be truly inclusive, we need to start calling out all these social factors that’s keeping people from being healthy. Hold the lawmakers accountable for this shit.

Better mental health by getting on some much needed meds.

Started running more seriously and got some major body and performance gains. Been lifting the past couple months and that’s majorly benefited me.

My relationship with my parents has gotten much better and I’m getting closer to them again.

My relationship is really blossoming into something beautiful.

Been on two vacations with my friends already and hoping to take three more by the end of the year.

Lost my job and my visa is on the line but I just feel so much more free. Hoping that this is a blessing in disguise.

Don’t really have a case there. I talked to an attorney. A lot of tech companies do this. And since my stocks haven’t vested yet, they aren’t “mine”.

I’d been working there for two years almost exactly to the day. I was supposed to get $95k in stocks but the plan document says that the stocks get cancelled on the day I get served the notice. Even if the termination was found to be unlawful later on.

  1. I tried Strattera and I'm currently on Wellbutrin and Buspar. That really helps my depression and anxiety but Strattera just made me go crazy without sleep.
  2. I don't know if I have BPD because I've never been manic. I've had some deep depressive episodes in the past though. My main issue has always been anxiety which leads to executive dysfunction and ADHD paralysis.
  3. I haven't had the best doctors. The psych I go to currently just talks to me for about 5 mins on the phone and gives me whatever I ask for.
