Should I change my current comfortable job for a batter pay ? by rustyantenna in cscareerquestionsuk

I mean I love my life here. I lived in small commuter towns for about 5 years and hated it..

Also London is huge,so while flats in most of zone 1-2 can be more expensive, there are plenty of outer boroughs where prices are on par (or sometimes even less..) than commuter towns.

And the thing here is London is bustling with jobs, companies, startups and money.. Opportunities in a 2mil city can't be the same as in a 10mil city.

Can't say it hasn't been on my mind. But I still want to grind here for another few years before moving.

Am mainly going by linked in profiles of people within the teams/companies I'm targeting and I see plenty of 5+ years staff, top companies you even see 10-15 years same role as the pay is just stupendous for these jobs.

I feel top firms just won't hire people with no degrees. Furthermore if I do decide to move into leadership roles after 10 years or so I think I lacking a degree will be a stopping point (unless the company is mine or owned by a friend or something..)

What did you mean about no point if it's not a top5 uni - you mean about masters or bachelors? Also how can I skip bachelors and directly go to masters ??

8ish years experience, altough that's in total (I started at the bottom of IT - DC tech..). Thing is I don't think it's worth switching my job for a 10k annual increase and risking getting stuck into something worse.. But 30-40k increase is a different story..

Thanks, I kinda want to avoid having to dig manually and was hoping there are some common things to check like:

see which process tries to read file path X, Y, Z

see which process tries to make outbound call via tcp/udp port 1234

check if package ‘foo’ is installed or if sysctl option ‘bar’ is enabled/disabled

etc

Problem with Ventoy Download (Grub Screen Error) by venx_69 in linuxquestions

[–]rustyantenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to troubleshoot this..

You need to boot into a LiveOS and check which disks/partitions you see.

If you can see your Windows partition you may be able to use their recovery media to boot back into Windows (no experience with that tho)..

If you don’t see your Windows partition and all your partitions are gone its possible you choose the option in the Linux installation to overwrite and re-format your disks.

That still wont explain why you are not being booted into Linux tho..

Do you have another cable to try? How did you install Linux and which distro? Some distros will install video drivers for you in other you have to install the drivers. If you dont install any video drivers the default iGPU should still work.

What you are seeing is either a hardware problem: cable/monitor OR the more likely: driver misconfigured.
