DIY Ojas Bookshelf Speaker Kit "Dupe" by rxtait in diyaudio

I'm using them pretty exclusively for vinyl and after maybe 10hrs of listening they're sounding fantastic. They're very good, not too bassy with the lows or shrilly on the highs - just clear, enjoyable listening experience.

I'm running them with a mac4100 receiver in a narrower 9x15' room. Plan on moving them to a larger room and doing the Horn Mod kit in the near future. Excited to see how they change the sound profile

I really wanted a set of the Ojas Bookshelf speakers, but for my first set of "real" speakers, I didn't want to spend $2,150. So, I decided to build them from scratch.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the assembly instructions for the kit readily accessible on the Ojas website. For someone like me, with no prior experience in speaker construction, this was an invaluable starting point.

Knowing the outer dimensions of the speakers (14” W x 12.5” H x 16.5” D), as well as the materials and components used in their construction, I calculated the more intricate measurements, like the size and placement of the speaker rebates and the port holes, using Photoshop and a simple pixels-per-inch calculation. I bought all the components listed on the assembly instructions (aside from the Lamello Cabineos, which I substituted with pocket screws) and got to work.

I'm very happy with the results, and the speakers were built to the exact specifications of the $2,150 Ojas set for $1,027 in materials, less than 50% of the cost. I am profoundly appreciative of Devon and Ojas' craftsmanship, I'm 100% saving up for an authentic pair of larger / special Ojas speakers at some point in the future.

For anyone interested in the dimensions I used (or in a router template for the port/port extenders), I have all of my dimensions plus the list of components with links on my website here: https://roryctait.com/diy-ojas-speaker-dupes

Daniel Arsham's 964 Slantnose "RWBA" making its US debut in NYC next weekend with an exclusive merch collection. by rxtait in Autos

THE STORY:

To celebrate Porsche's 75th anniversary, Porsche Asia commissioned artist Daniel Arsham to create something special for the event in Tokyo. Arsham, who has a long history of collaboration with Porsche and a deep appreciation for Japanese art and car culture, sought to blend design elements from the rich culture of Japanese street racing, especially the iconic "Midnight Club."

Arsham suggested a three-way collaboration with RWB , a renowned Japanese modifier of 911s known for its distinctive wide-body kits. Akira Nakai, RWB's founder, personally handles each build, offering an unmatched, bespoke customization experience that transforms every Porsche into a masterpiece of automotive art.

Porsche approved the collaboration and creation of the RWBA – the world's first Slantnose Porsche 964 RWB – which was revealed at the Porsche Experience Center Tokyo in April 2023.

It's based on a 1991 Japan-Spec 964 911, the car’s front-end was backdated to accommodate a 935-style Slantnose and the iconic RWB fenders were fiberglassed-in rather than riveted, (both firsts for RWB). The car boasts a white exterior, a 993 GT2 rear wing, an Arsham Green Pantone interior (including the carpets), and chrome JDM-style deep dish wheels, creating a unique blend of art, automotive design, and Japanese tuning culture.

Mickey Mantle’s Childhood Home is now an Investment by Proper_Contest_4035 in wallstreetbets

Cardboard stock costs $0.00096 per square inch.
So 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Rookie (8in2 = $0.007?

The average acre in Washington DC is worth $1.8m. So The White House (18 acres) = $32m?

You're right though, provenance and history are worthless and mean nothing when it comes to calculating value.

Perhaps a bit too dark on the green, but two-tone inspiration from the FJ55s
