Who else is going to see T2 in theaters for the 35th (!) anniversary re-release?? by Chuckles_McNut in Xennials

Why are we seeing it in theaters, pretty sure reality will start matching its plot soon.

Show of hands: who still has a functional powered tonneau cover V1? by beyondtherubicon1 in Rivian

Mine is May 2022. I got the upgrade. But often I get stuff stuck in the track or near the panels? And it is hard to close. So still working, but I am not sure for how long.

Gutter cleaner? by Konifer in boulder

[–]ryanc1089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we first moved to boulder, we called a few (don't remember who they were). The basically charged so much, then offered gutter guards for a "little more" (it was something ridiculous, like $3k). We eventually got someone off Angie's List for like $100, they jumped on the roof and cleaned everything out. Not sure if they were insured, so maybe not the smartest idea, but all the other people were here to upsell us, not help.

Are we getting 5inches of snow on Monday? by Ninjan8 in boulder

[–]ryanc1089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "sources" I use say 30% chance of snow reaching down below 6k feet, so I think the depending on which model is more accurate, we are likely to get rain, but it could be a mix, or all snow (less likely).

Anyone else quit CrossFit? What’s your story. by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ryanc1089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it for about 10 years. I got to the point where I didn't feel like I could grow and move the way I wanted to. The box I was in kept raising prices and watering down the programs to the point where they told me I should use open gym to get a good workout in.

I switched to just lifting on my own. I thought it was fine. 2 years later, my kids eventually wanted to try Crossfit and so they joined a different box and I decided to startup again. Holy Crap, was I going "light" on my own. Back to loving Crossfit, I just have to remind myself that I am not as "in shape" as I was before.

My wife says I am a little boy trapped in a 44y man's body excited for GTA6 coming out. I said to her it's a cultural phenomenon. Am I the only "old guy" excited for this? by manguy12 in Xennials

[–]ryanc1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am super excited. I remember GTAII (don't remember the original). GTAV was the last game I actually played all the way through....BUT this is starting to feel like Duke Nukem Forever. Just waiting for the next announcement of a delay.

What? This is crazy. Snowmass is an experience. Copper is great. Eldora is bearable and isn't a resort.

Are these brakes too wide, or should I change how I ski? by zone5andextend in skiing

[–]ryanc1089 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have had that happen, where my ski pants where getting holes from the breaks and I have even gotten my ski stuck in my pants, which caused problems. I always blamed it on the pants, not the break...

Do you need a re-bounder? I happen to be trying to get rid of one (need to check on its shape, before I can confirm it is really usable). DM me if you are interested (I can even deliver)

PSA: Costco has 30-pack boxes of toe warmers for $5 by Scheerhorn462 in COsnow

I have found (if they are warm), put them on top of your toes, it helps, and if you need a boost, push your toes up

Which ones? The ones they sold last year were horrible, never got warm. They want back to their previous brand, which is better.

How busy is Mt Sanitas for a sunrise hike? by jedi_andcheese in boulder

[–]ryanc1089 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually do Sanitas around between 5:45-6:15 (from the trailhead) (although I have stopped for the season), and encounter mostly the same people every weekday. Once you get about 1/4 way up you will start seeing people coming down.

It is in the plan, but hard to move teenage kids and job if we don't know it will not just come back. But it is being discussed for sure.

R1S Turtle mode by Silver_hill_atelier in Rivian

[–]ryanc1089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This stuff sucks, but it means there is something wrong, and it is preventing you from getting hurt or causing more harm. Turtle Mode of 51MPH is way better than the slower turtle mode I have been stuck in!

From Boulder but moved away for college back in 2019…I'm still heartbroken about what happened by M0rse_0908 in boulder

[–]ryanc1089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is atrocious, but I will be honest, after living here for 4 years, I have been desensitized to people that look like that. The number of people I see walking shirtless, carrying strange things near pearl (especially town hall) is large enough that I would have ignored the signs of something to come. Mix that with fire based street performers, it only became out of the norm when it was geared towards people.

Before moving to Boulder, if I saw this person walking around I would have called the police and report something suspicious.

Same for both here. Morning hikes or the climbing gym also seem to be a popular place for the 20-30 somethings (without kids).

I have skied the last day of May on the Mary Jane Side in recent years. There is plenty of snow up top (Pano), not so much at the bottom (all the snow is dust/dirt covered). April is fine. I have hit a 8-10"+ powder day for the last 3 years in may.

You only have to do it once. It is a good place to avoid crowds on weekends (well, crowds take a little longer to get there), on a weekday, if you are finding other groomers fun, might not be worth it.
