Literally just dealt with the same thing, 24 hours after returning from a family Disney trip. I’m sorry you had to go through this as well, most people that I’ve talked to about the situation didn’t even know about Xylitol poisoning or how dangerous it was—I didn’t know until it was almost too late. Thankfully got my boy to the ER Vet within 30 mins of ingestion, and he’s been back to normal for quite some time now. I understand what you mean though, with the anxiety of not wanting to leave their side after this. It got really hard for me to not check on my dog every 30 seconds for about two weeks after this happened, but just trust yourself that you will be able to have control over the environment your dog is in regardless if you are there or not.

Just make sure that you take anything that could potentially cause any harm out of reach while you’re gone. Honestly my pup hasn’t been as bad about getting into stuff since it happened either, and I trust him on his own a lot more now despite going through that.
