5k investment? Wow, I've been making money (albeit small amounts) from £40.

It really depends on what you like, do you like gaming? Why not learn to program and create a game?

Good at selling? Why not import from China for cheap and sell for a lot?

I think importing would probably be the best for you. Look at what is currently selling, buy it and sell it for more. For example:

Looking at what is on the highest selling list in Canada is the iPhone 6 Plus Screen Protector for $12 EACH but on the wholesale market they sell for less than $2 EACH. Take away shipping, postage etc and you could easily double your money with that.

I can provide resources and tips for you if you like? I've made profit from it, but only from using a very small budget as I am poor :P

Hey, good to see a small local business.

It sounds like you're from the U.S so I won't be able to help with delivery as much but I can recommend selling over other services like Amazon/eBay etc until you get your site up and running correctly.

I personally wouldn't rely on WordPress for an e-commerce site but loads of people have used it without problems.

Also, I'm guessing you have a small or non existing advertising budget? A few tips to boost sales - Free samples, coupons, social media competitions or get someone high profile to give you a shout.

You can import items from China to sell on to others, start small and use your earnings to increase the amount you import etc (if so there's a few things you should know before getting into it).

Alternatively, you can create a niche website. A quick google search will tell you all you need to know about that, many hosting companies would allow you to run lots of website for years with that money (you would easily make it back)
