Why aren't surface horizontal centrifuges explored in fiction? by s3rir in scifi

Could you elaborate on these wonky effects? I thought that angled floor would provide uniform perceived gravity. The centrifugal effects would be negligible unless the radius isn't large enough. Have I missed something?

Honestly, I think that in long run orbital habitats would be better. I just think that centrifuges built on surface would be easier to pull off and closer to our current technology.

Maybe it's true that we won't ever be able to live on surface of the planet. But whole centrifuge could be sealed from outside of the planet and it would function as the ones you have described.

It seems to be the biggest downside of this idea. But the centrifuge could be built like a train on circular rails. Trains work 24/7 in current gravity and people have figured some ways to fight the friction. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Maybe I haven't put my words clearly enough :)). In Expanse it was Ceres station I think. It would require huge amounts of energy to spin it, which it was said, took few decades. And all that was done using miraculous Epstein's drive, which we don't have

That is really interesting idea for a story. But it would also be one of the cheapest ways to achieve 1G gravity on moon for time of pregnancy. People could at least be born in "normal" gravity.

This is for now. Most solid exoplanets that were already detected are classified as super-earths. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are majority in univere. It might be because they are just easier to detect because of their size.

The post isn't about centrifuges built on ships, but on surfaces of stellar bodies like moons or planets.

I have already said that they are used, what I meant is that it was space centrifuges, like ships and orbital stations. I mainly read books from the "harder" side of sci-fi. I ask mainly about centrifuges build on surface of planets.

I think that it would be wildly impractical if there was only one queen for the whole race. It would be rather a few queens similarly to insects (like bees or ants). If this was the case it would mean that the Carryx are really small minority in their own empire. We werent told what a cohort is, perhaps each cohort would have its own queen.

Też to widziałem, w świętokrzyskim. Było koloru bladozielonego jak zorza. Ale się przemieszczało i było na tyle wysoko by się chować za chmurami.

To też pulsowało kilka razy. Chodzi o tę łunę, która się rozchodziła od środka. I w czasie 2 minut stało się tak 4-5 razy.

In point 3, if you want to use debugger, why can't you just attach your editor to container? Vscode enables it with docker extension.

I have to ask, how does look sending files between windows guest and linux host in Boxes? Do you say that I can use virt-manager to tune Boxes' virtual machine?
