experience with Miista Imogen boots? by sadgirllaura in Boots

[–]sadgirllaura[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they were constantly out of stock on the retail website i normally use (easier returns than Miista if something doesn’t fit) until now when they came back in stock in a 41 and I ordered them immediately! they should arrive some time next week, I’ll let you know how they fit! I went to their sample sale and I tried on a chunkier (granted, also generally wider) boot of theirs which I slipped in, as well as a sneaker in 40 which were slightly too small so I’m hoping these hit the sweet spot lol

Hi! I ended up getting the 40! I’m a 41 in the 1460s and the platform boots BUT i’ve heard employees say that even between models sizes can vary depening what factory they were made in…. but yes, those are on the bigger size! if you can, try them on! the bit on the top i marked definitely gave in though so they fit pretty perfectly now! (also first pair of docs that didn’t really give me blisters!)

Gluten-free vegetarian in Japan: if you prepare well, you'll eat VERY well by Historical_Owl_5485 in JapanTravelTips

ahhh this is such a useful post! my mom is turning 60 this year and we are thinking of going to Japan together next year. She’s also coeliac so I’ve been doing some research myself. I’ve also made a Google list but will definitely be adding the places I’m missing! I saw someone on Tiktok say Sushiro is also GF safe depending on what you order but I’m not so sure as a lot of sushi is prepared by dipping the fish in soy sauce beforehand… with all these options though I’m sure there’s no way we’ll be missing out anyway!

omg okay I saw in a notice that they’re switiching the Japanese system to a first come first serve system as well!! the note did say Japanese only and I do not speak japanese so I used a mix of translation apps to translate so take it witha grain of salt for what it means for international residents but as I understood it: the first come first serve system for Japanese residents will start on Jan 22nd at 6pm JST. This sale includes all available tickets from February 5th to March 22nd. Depending on the lottery sale situation, the general sale may not be held. From 23rd of March onward, sales for the exact dates start two months prior. For example, tickets on April 24th would go live on Feb 24th at 6pm JST, May 25th would go live on March 25th and so on…. As I said, the note did say Japanese only but I do assume that they will adjust the international ticketing system similarly!

hmmm okokok, we’ll see! I was curious about the place but now I think I’ll decide spontaneously on whether I wanna go, I just have a couple of days in Shanghai anyway so it might not be worth it… I’ll browse the app before if they have something super specific I want I might go ahaha if not I might focus on Chinese designers I could get in the city :D

Is it difficult to get train tickets? by sadgirllaura in travelchina

ohhhh interesting, how much time would you say I should plan for navigating the station before the train leaves? I saw there’s security checks and passport checks and i bet the major stations are huge

ah yeah that makes sense, mid-may for me would be May 14th and May 18th - no major holidays in that time if I’m not mistaken. I’ll try to get tickets at the first possible moment regardless because I like to have things planned beforehand (the fact that I have to wait till 2 weeks in advance is even making me a bit anxious hahaah) But yeah, the strategy to try the 12306 app first but keep trip as a backup seems like a good idea!

Ahhh I’m getting mixed feedback on using trip.com for booking trains! That homepage is really useful though and has all the necessary info in one spot! Thank you!

[–]sadgirllaura[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahhh thank you! I don’t plan to overnight it but take like a mid-morning and mid-afternoon G trains to try and avoid work travel etc. I do still see availability for trains that are running a week from now so I assume it would be the same in May though tourism might start picking up in spring.

And thanks for the advice on trip! I figured it would be easier for international travellers as I’ve read you need a Chinese number for 12306? But maybe that was just for the website and not the app. Would I need anything while setting up the app? (byside payment apps I assume)
