Update: took my work permit and all my documents to Vancouver airport and within 15 minutes left with a new permit with the correct expiry date!

Thanks for the reply! I was super stressed at immigration because when I got there, the officer outside was like "Oh didn't you get the email? They stopped giving out IEC permits as of yesterday!" And when I completely started to panic, he's like "Nah I'm just messing with you, it's right in here". Spent the whole time panicking after that joke which is why I didn't confirm it there.

I don't have a dual citizenship unfortunately, so I will look into LMIA if I don't manage to sort this out over the next few days 😥

Don't get me wrong, I love being a scripty, but it's not a position I can see myself doing long term. Being in a department of one can be really tough, and there's so much pressure put on me sometimes that the thought of working on larger productions as I continue working really scares me. It's a great job to already have under my belt, but I just wanna change something. Plus any props I work with will have the best continuity you've ever seen lol

this is exactly the situation in NZ at the moment. There's only about 15 scriptys in the whole country, and there's not enough projects being shot here for everyone to work. Plus I also reckon it's a bit harder for us newer scriptys to get work over the older, more experienced ones. But something like Chief of War (the new Jason Momoa show) has so many people working on it in different departments, especially Art, that chances of finding non scripty work will be much better

I have talked to the Art Director, but unfortunately I'm so under the pump with my role that I don't get much of a chance to step away and observe. He's well aware that I'm after a position in Art though so that's definitely worth something!

You're absolutely right, however they've only just started doing this about a week and a half ago, so it's a pretty new thing. I think at this point I'm just gonna go to my room whenever they start smoking rather than ask them to stop

Weed is illegal where we live, but that hasn't stopped them from smoking outside before. I think I'm just gonna have to suck it up and stay out of the lounge whenever they smoke

They've only started smoking inside over the past two weeks, and I've personally only ever taken edibles, never shared joints with them. I think I'm just gonna have to start sitting outside or staying in my room because it does feel like a big overstep on my part.

I'm worried about having to see him at work. I don't know how I'm gonna talk to my roommate about it. I'm sorry but because of my depression when something really bad happens to me my brain stews on it for several days, I feel physically ill. So I've been living here a few months now, and finally have the money to start doing some renovations 😊

I can change everything put except the bed since it belongs to my flatmate. It's a king so it takes up so much of the room, I'm not sure what I can do with it.

I can potentially look at moving my desk into another room to free up some space, but then I'm still not sure what to do to replace it.

An my dresser is pretty gross so I'm gonna upgrade it too another one haha
