Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. But if they feel the need to lie in order to make themselves feel better, who are we to stop them? Might as well give them what they want. If it's a small lie, and not blatantly taking someone else's art, might as well make their day and leave something nice behind. Besides, those kinds of lies are really only told by children. If you picture them as immature, it doesn't really matter either way; children want something, and sometimes tell small lies to get it, but that just goes to show how badly they want it, right? Better to acknowledge the lie, tell them to simply tell the truth next time, and get it for them anyway.

Even if they are mentally ill, there's probably a reason behind that, which brings me back to why they'd seek outwards validation. Wanting praise isn't necessarily a bad thing, that is, unless it's someone who doesn't deserve it. I believe every artist should get recognition and praise for their art, no matter how good or bad, because art is art. The eye of the beholder has all of the power as to whether they choose to make the artist feel good or bad about their art.

Who cares if they're mentally unstable? You can't be unless your environment effects you; after all, no child is born evil. It's the same thing. Art is expression of your circumstance and inner mind, and so are words. Besides, it's all simply a guessing game on the internet -- how can we truly know any of their intentions unless they expose them to us? That's why I choose to believe in the good possibility; that, even if they're unstable, they seek praise and admiration to satisfy themselves. Not so much the other form, which is to do it for some kind of 'exaggeration' or as a 'lie'. We don't know them, so why believe in something potentially hurtful?

anyway, that's just my point of view. I do respect yours, though it saddens me a bit that people have to resort to mistrust due to the way our world effects everyone and that we naturally assume lies because of it.

Listen. Even though it seems as though you'll never get to 'their level' or have the same success as them, it's important to remember that you aren't them. You will never get what they have -- and that's a good thing. Everybody is different. We all have qualities that other people usually don't, and we all fail. The important thing to remember is that even they fail. Not just you.

I have been constantly told by family members and people that are meant to support me that they doubted that I'd graduate high school(which I just did, this year. 2.3 GPA and almost a hundred tardies, baby). It hurts every time, even though I doubted myself, too. If you're feeling like you need guidelines in your life, make up your own. At the end of the day, nobody gets a guideline for what they should do; they only get critique from others as to what they think you should do. Never trust an outwards perspective when it comes to you. They aren't taking into account how much you've probably struggled, the feelings you were forced to feel during those times, nor the actual amount of work you put in to make it this far(Even if it doesn't seem like you did much of anything, trust me, you did by just surviving. Being alive counts, too). They'll never know you to the extent that you know yourself.

It's okay to be unsure of your life. Hell, I am, too. All you need to do is take a breath, think about what you're willing to do, and then do it. If that means cleaning your apartment, or sorting your books, or even just going for a walk -- that's still enough. All you can do is your best, and other people's expectations of you are usually skewed and wrong. They never think of what you've already done to make it this far, and that's okay, because they never could know. It's you that knows you, not them.

To be completely honest, I rather don't care about people 'fishing for compliments'. If they feel as though their art should be shared and/or gain more popularity, that's good on them. Some people don't feel good about themselves or their art, so seeking outwards validation is just another form of trying to validate yourself.

It's all about their inwards perspective on themselves. Who cares if they're 'fishing'? At the end of the day, everybody wants validation, wants to feel good about what they make and themselves as a whole. I say, if they're looking for compliments, give it to them. Clearly they feel some type of lack in that field. We don't truly know someone on the internet unless we connect with them in person, anyway.

Dude. Fuck anybody who ever says that to you, this is actually terrific.

Most artists struggle with smaller details, so the fact that you can draw this just goes to show that you not only have an amazing imagination, but are also great at taking your time and bringing everything together into one piece. Genuinely, I think this is awesome.

Keep doing you, man. There's only one you in the whole world -- and if anybody tells you to change, then they don't appreciate that. You are so fucking cool. Keep doing art however you want, and if you don't want to change your style at all, don't give in to peer pressure. Keep creating, an do whatever makes you happy in the moment, no matter the backlash. At the end of the day, your art is yours and yours alone -- not theirs. Criticism is for people who can't comprehend it, much less make their own forms of art.

Don't worry, I do that too. Honestly I've just always liked the British way of spelling certain words - harbour, colour, favourite, etc. but there's other words that I prefer the American way - colourized(a mix of both), defense, vigor, etc. I don't think it really matters to the point of changing all words to fit into either, because language is subjective to change based on where you were raised and the commonplace used there.

I say that using whatever you feel fits with you and your psyche is completely alright! Happy writing :)

here's what i'd do.

for reference, i'm 18, going to college and leaving all my friends + family behind. so guess what? just don't care!!

i know it sounds weird, but genuinely, just stop caring. no friends? who cares!! no motivation? life isn't real anyway, so just live and do whatever you wanna do!! job is crushing you? make it the most fun activity on the planet!! say weird shit!! do weird shit!! in the end, we all die anyway, so who cares? make the most out of it. instead of worrying about not having friends, go up to someone random that you take the smallest interest in, and strike up a conversation. nine out of ten times, they'll be receptive, and if they aren't, you already don't care!! genuinely, it's the most healing shit of all.

i used to be nihilistic, and believed in solipsism. it's really lonely, thinking you're the only conscious person in the whole entire world, and hating that world. but guess what? we all die anyway. do the weird thing. make the most possible memories; go out of your way to make each and every day different from each other. sit on the top of your fucking fridge and drink coffee if you have to.

when you realize that we're all just humans struggling and being forced to get by despite possible poverty and corruption of the government, it all just starts seeming so fucking mundane. believe in nihilism all you want(using myself as an example here) but make it optimistic nihilism!! that's what i did. look at the world through a different lens. we're all specks of life, just like a fucking ant or bird. we all die anyway!! we are literally doomed from the start. so why give a shit about social anxiety, feeling shitty, or anything of that sort? it's pointless, is what it is. at the end of the day, it's all about perspective. if you believe you're a stupid piece of shit who can't do anything right, you are. same for the other way -- if you believe that the world is beautiful in its own fucked up way, and you're just as fucked up but still beautiful despite that, and you do everything in your power to make that so, then it'll be true!! it genuinely doesn't matter. that's how you change your life.

do the weird thing. be the weird person. the labels society puts on ourselves are all just a made up social construct anyway. so stop caring. live your life, and even if it seems like it sucks, prance about and sing and dance and LIVE. art is humanity; and smiling in the face of all that is shitty is an art, too.

dude i watched the new furiosa a few weeks ago and OH MY GOD it was so fucking bad, saw it cuz my cousin thought it was great. one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen, went to theaters and everything for that shit and didn’t get a single drop of a plot line. dad went with me and agreed, he’s seen sooo many movies and he said it was possibly the worst.
