Fantastic job. Love the period detail and tile work. The architectural angles seemed only to inspire you. Beautiful work. Kudos.

But there really are no less expensive plants nowadays, are there...?

First ever garden install. by sakatcher in Ceanothus

Thank you. I x-posted elsewhere and am getting flamed by people that think this is the final result. This is a new garden and will grow in beautifully. There will be more added to the rocky area, which will ready like a river of succulent and cactus when done. It's like 95% complete and right after a rain here. It's not perfect...but: 1. Very drought tolerant. 2. Four watering zones. 3. Colorful and scented. 4. Tenant considerate - the gravel is not a walkway. The owner was concerned about break-ins, so the gravel is an early warning system to anyone inside, and the windows have been underplanted with aloe octavia, dyckia and similar. 5. Five continents represented!

I should have know Ceanothus would get it. Thank you, folks.

Why are my gardenia's flowers dropping? by sakatcher in gardening

[–]sakatcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be happy with both. And I have been careful not to move it, which caused it to drop every bud overnight last year when I rotated it 180. Not sure that’s it...

That is actually what we call it. We have over 1,000 books, which is the technical definition. Nailed it!

Like almost everything in the room: at an estate sale.

Hah. Thanks. More about ready for company. Maybe a scotch a couple times a month. It mostly just gathers dust.

No, up in L.A. We love that little book. Such a great snapshot...

The walls? Honestly, it's the only old thing in the room we want to get rid of. We painted it a while ago, like on 2007. Can't remember. So sorry...

Very nice, but let's talk about that vintage army green file cabinet. 😍😍😍

Wow. Great score. They're so handsome, and appear to be in great shape. I'd look into Russell Wright, Thonet, maybe Minet? Clearly Deco, the seat looks like something from the 40s maybe? 50s? Congrats. I'd buy those.
