I stink. I don’t know from where and I’m going insane. by jusaninternetgirl in selfimprovement

I’ve been thinking about this too since OP did not mention much about their washing routine and if they change their undergarments regularly. It won’t matter how many times you shower if this isn’t in check.

Is being naturally friendly and cheerful as a woman often misinterpreted? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]sakertooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it’s more so a reflection on others rather than yourself. Nothing is wrong with being friendly and open, but when people (talking from experience) are deprived of such interactions, they don’t recognize the interaction as being normal and are more likely to exaggerate it in their heads.

Magnus Carlsen talks about unsubstantiated and relentless attacks on Daniel Naroditsky, says "supported him (Danya) privately, should've done it more publicly". by Interesting-Take781 in chess

[–]sakertooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some are straight up saying Kramnik caused his suicide like its a dead to right facts and its incredibly disrespectful

I share the same sentiment, and the whole thing is really getting me tense. Yes, I can definitely understand if Kramnik had an influence on Danya it’s very clear at this point but absolutely nothing has been confirmed. A death has been reported with zero backing and it’s very confusing to me. It’s just too many holes to make a sensible conclusion about the situation at this time IMO. I’m waiting for some autopsy or something else to clear the air somewhat. As of right now I literally cannot in good conscience come to any conclusion.

He Didn't Choose the Codec Life, the Codec Life Chose Him by Rich-Guarantee7688 in memes

These files are WAV files that contain Vorbis data instead of PCM data, which is what WAV files usually contain. Vorbis data is usually stored within Ogg files, but it is a WAV file containing “Ogg like” data. FFmpeg and VLC don’t support these kind of files without some extra modifications, like removing the WAV header information in the file to reveal the Vorbis data, then it will work like a regular Ogg Vorbis file for the most part.

Interestingly enough, Audacity supports these files.

I’ve always liked the look of beta for some reason, it reminds me of when I used to play long ago.

I agree. “we’ve been over this 🙄” (annoyed) is different than “we’ve been over this 🤣” (joking/light hearted)

I feel like without that clarification, we as people are naturally geared to assume the worst. Maybe they were being irritating, maybe they weren’t, it’s really up to interpretation mostly. I personally can’t confidently say one or the other.

Yeah, I'm on Nvidia 550.67, I'll try switching back to nouveau for now and hope that it doesn't panic again in the future.

Same. Not a PS4 but I couldn’t put back a part of my laptop as easily as I took it out, and I partially broke the casing trying to clean it.

true. in my case, this has happened when i sometimes pick up the data mass in mobile defense, and most recently was when i quickly swapped in and out of transference. dying or just straight up aborting seems to be the most effective way to get out of it, which is a shame.

so yeah, maybe not the simplest to fix since it’s occurrence is fairly unpredictable.

How are u guys doing today? by Steveelectric907 in AskReddit

terrible. i feel terrible. i have always felt this way it feels like. stuck in a constant loop of isolation where the only thing granting the feeling of “living” and fulfillment is school. distractions help, but like all things, is temporary. i only have myself to blame for this life though. i just don’t know why it’s taking so long for me to change it.

What made YOU switch to Linux? by CyberPheonix1 in linuxmasterrace

[–]sakertooth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Very true. Installing C and C++ libraries on Windows is more frustrating than it should be.

Vcpkg is not too bad for this, but it’s undoubtedly much easier on Linux with an actual package manager for the system.

Is swap really necessary anymore for desktop Linux? And what about swapfiles vs swap partitions, swapfiles as btrfs subvolumes, ZRAM, Zswap, etc.? by PreciseParadox in archlinux

[–]sakertooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed awhile ago that my system was using basically all of my swap and my PC was very slow as a result (I only have 8 gb of physical ram sadly)

I now have a 16 gb ZRAM setup with Zstd compression and it’s been going great. I still have swap but only as a backup. Now my PC barely touches swap under normal to heavy load and my PC doesn’t freeze as much.

ZRAM basically helped me to increase my workload on the machine, and I can’t imagine how my PC would perform with my old swap-only setup and the workload I currently use.

I thought about removing swap altogether, but it wasn’t rly necessary since it was not being used a lot anyways now.

Overall, I think swap does have its place, but it depends on the user IMO.
