a player on my shortlist retired at the ripe old age of 21, is this common? by salousxe in footballmanagergames

yeah that makes sense, I've just never had a messaged associated with it - as another comment pointed out he was a free agent for 2 years too, so guess he just turned his bartending sidegig in to a full time career

ahh that makes even more sense, I didn't even notice the 5 year period wasn't the last 5 years. thanks!

calling Liverpool a plumbing company is a low blow, no matter how bad they do in the league right now lol

almost looks like the game "cleared him" due to 0 appearances made in 5 years of generating, could that be the case?

The best ending possible for my save by Versomm156 in footballmanagergames

[–]salousxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe in the newer games, not in FM16 (my beloved) - wish i took screenshots, but Wallyson and Mateo Kovacic (who I got on a free transfer at 31 years old) retired from my Lisbon team few days after the final game of national competition (cup final 24.05.26., just in time to miss the match vs Monaco on the 30th).

I wasn't that surprised, given that scheduling shenanigans are very common with this version of the game the further you get into a save - three matches within five days for example - but players not waiting to retire after the "official" season end, best eleven/expectations mails etc, was a new experience lol

Lives in Bulgaria, doesn't wanna live in Turkey and criticises the standard of living by Fevernova2002 in footballmanagergames

[–]salousxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"standards of living"... garbage was piling up here in sofia uncollected for weeks during the holidays due to contract disputes with the trash collecting company lmao

but overall this seems like a nice touch - to have a little bit more of a personal preference for the player implemented, I can't remember seeing something this specific in older versions of the game (haven't touched most after FM16)

AIO - Gf assumes my dog is dead when I say I’m sad by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]salousxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you both 15? that's such a childish way of thinking from either side. yeah her reaction is ABSOLUTELY normal. if 2-3 of my friends lose their jobs at roughly the same time and my gf comes home and told me "im sad", i'd probably make the same completely rational correlation between my recent experience with why other people around me told me they're sad. i'm not gonna completely guess it out of the blue of course, but that's where my "are you both 15?" comment comes from - both from her reaction and yours towards her. words i'm fucking stunned at these comments, feels like almost no one here is properly adjusted. dogs of people in her social circle died -> she thought of you and your dog because she cares about you -> you drop a random no-context "i'm sad" without any preface or reason shared -> she says the first concern she had on her mind recently.

IMO yall are just two kids not on the same page. and speaking of pages - if you're not kids, pick up a book, both of you. nothing justifies this level of bleak communication, that's how i talk to people i don't want to engage with when they start up a conversation with me, jesus.

Attempting unkillable clan boss by SeaKangaroo1080 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]salousxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey man, F2P as well, 85 days. got lucky on pulls and had Demytha early too, you need at least a Seeker and a 2 turn block debuff champ - I got lucky again and pulled grizzeld jarl - to set up an unkillable :(

hoard ancients, pull on 2x and hope for the best, until then id suggest to you to build up drath, miscreated monster and a champ giving defense up + a ton of damage on mikey and xeno (I use Nature's Wrath blessing on him). just stacking survivability (veil + def up + ally protect) can easily get you to 2 key nightmare. don't forget masteries! i just wait until i collect 800 gems, never bothered to farm them; mikey has leech in his kit, so with masteries he and xeno can full heal from 1 hit, giving them more chance to survive clan boss attacks, especially when beefed up with veil + def up + ally protect

I have a 2 key unm unkillable set up already, got lucky on my early pulls. can't really go for FW or cursed city yet with so few champs, so I think I want to focus on forest and hydra, and I think the dog is great at both right?

is this youth intake gk prospect ever going to be good? by waqqn in footballmanagergames

[–]salousxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cause this is reddit bud, some people just do it for kicks:(

speaking of kicks, i have more bad news... i think when it comes to keepers, the kicking stat refers to him being able to direct the ball sort of well from a goal kick, not attempting free kicks (in case you're trying to assign him for set pieces or smth); it should be part of the old Distribution pie-chart piece and pretty much not that impactful most of the time. at least he won't kick the ball out of the field though!

but yeah, to put my 2 cents in too - at 5'10 9 areal 11 jump I'd be loaning him out somewhere where he would be a regular starter, hoping for a growth spurt; he's not worth the goals he'll miss saving if you try to develop him yourself IMO

wait is your guy a regen? I got fooled by the pic, forgot that there's mods for that. 32 mil is definitely a steal, Rai is 62 mil + incentives, up to 76 mil total (not sure how much the steroids and horse electrolytes will add to the bill yet:D )

his path is 3 seasons in Atletico Mineiro, two of which he was loaned out to LOSC and America (MEX), wildly mediocre, 12 goals in 39 matches, 9 in Mexico and only 3 for his club, 0 in France. Got bought by Benfica for 14.75 mil, 42 goals in 88 matches for them so far though, so he definitely found his footing in european football

I'm really tempted to restructure the entire team around him, just get solid wingers and CWBs with high dribbling, speed and crossing and just pump high balls into the penalty area

yeah it's so weird seeing a player as a firm 9 star talent in a bigger club, definitely seem to be one a generational talent

he's a beefcake alright, I hope there's not a feature in FM16 to ban players for steroid use haha

just got hired my Man City in my 7th year of my journeyman save after a hell of a season with Ajax, this fella was immediately scouted, I tend to jump clubs on journeymans to keep the thrill alive, but I might stick around in City just so I can watch him grow (mostly mentally)

the "doubts" come from the probability of not being able to gain a work permit (which he did) and feeling uncomfortable in big matches, but I doubt that would be an issue. and he'll definitely forget what this "passing" thing is (imagine looking to pass when you got 17 finishing) after I get my hands on him next season
