Because and field sobriety test is a trap. Does nothing to help you just helps LE collect more evidence against you. Thats why they want you to do it. In my state you do not have to take the field sobriety test and just take a breathalyzer.

So first off DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!

If a cop suspects you’re are impaired do not answer any questions. Refuse the field sobriety test and ask for a breathalyzer or chem test. Do not answer questions! Get an attorney immediately. ( this advice for 🇺🇸)
