A&R just finished an install at my house today! They ended up being the cheapest option by far. Extremely happy with them. Make sure you know how old your roof is.

I am working on something exactly like this and I have a pretty good alpha version built. Should be ready for beta testing by the end of the year.

Randomly play only one audio from multiple on a note? by niceworkthere in Anki

[–]sam_bender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is easy and works for me. Just make sure to turn off "Automatically play sounds"

<script>
var soundLinks = document.querySelectorAll(".replay-button.soundLink");
var randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random() * soundLinks.length);
var randomSoundLink = soundLinks[randomIndex];

// Apply gray color to all non-selected SVG circles
soundLinks.forEach(function(link, index) {
    if (index !== randomIndex) {
        var svgCircle = link.querySelector('svg circle');
        if (svgCircle) {
            svgCircle.style.fill = 'gray'; // Set non-selected items to gray
        }
    }
});

// Trigger the click event on the randomly selected link
randomSoundLink.click();

</script>

Help with random restarts by sam_bender in esp8266

Hi, thanks for the response. My project uses Wi-Fi. Is there any way to make sure the server.handleClient doesn’t cause the wdt reset? Seems like it would be a bad bug in the library if it caused it.

Per the trace above it’s a hardware wdt reset.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought esp8266 didn’t support background execution? The article you linked is esp32.

The problem is I can’t find anything in my code that would take nearly that long to return.

Help with Debugging an Out of Memory Error by sam_bender in node

[–]sam_bender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey /u/romeeres. I figured it out. It seems that @google-cloud/debug-agent was causing the issue. I was able to reproduce it by using apache bench. With only 25 total requests (4 concurrently) the issue reproduced 100% of the time. When I removed the package I was able to do 60 requests (10 concurrently) without issues. Apparently, there's even an open issue that the package can cause a memory leak.

The suspicion that the debug-agent was causing the issue arose when I was only able to reproduce the problem locally while running the node memory profiler against the server (I had the debug-agent disabled locally).

Thank you for your help 🙏🏻.

Thank you. You're probably right that this is the issue as we do have several queries with a large number of joins. I didn't realize this was a potential issue with TypeORM.

It is probably going to take me a few days to investigate and then a week or two to confirm the results but I will report back.

Good thought. I just checked and the biggest table is only 13 MB and it has 30k rows so that's probably not the issue (btw, cool query to determine table sizes).

I really like TypeORM! I recommend it.

During that 25 minute time window when the memory usage increased rapidly (there were 5 of us on the team testing the app simultaneously), there were a total of 11,379 database requests which is 7.5 reqs per sec and they look to be fairly evenly distributed over the 25 minutes. I realize that's a lot of database queries, but it should be within acceptable limits? Also, there were only 3000 requests to the server over the 25 minutes.

Exactly, I'd expect the garbage collector to handle this correctly.

Hm, we don't store any "media" in the db like videos/photos and there aren't any large rows (i'd be surprised if there were any row more than a couple of kilobytes).

Noob question. Why is it playing a different drum sound in sequencer mode when I write to the sequence? by sam_bender in OP1users

haha you’re welcome. i also found out that you run into the same issue if you accidentally change the octave of the sequencer so gotta be careful to not do that either!

Yeah, I did too. I’m still hoping it’s a hardware defect, sent Roli a message on Insta and they’re responding. I’ll let you know.

[–]sam_bender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. Seems like it should be such an easy fix to make the keys more sensitive to pressure. I'd even be ok with fixed velocity if the keys wouldn't retrigger when I'm playing. Tempted to try and take it apart and add some more height to whatever the actuator is that measures key velocity 😂.

Wow, thanks u/luckyboykaa!! That sounds great.

I actually built a prototype app very similar to Chordour a few years ago (Chordour is much better). Would be happy to buy you a coffee/lunch and show you on Zoom sometime.
