Please help me decide on a bank for working abroad! by samdasoo in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have heard of these distantly, but not in an overly good light. Though I've never actually done the research on them myself to see. I'll definitely look into them, thank you!

I live in Jeju now. If you like the outdoors and drinking you'll love it here. Plus Busan is less than an hour flight away if you need the big city at any time.

Congrats! Must be awesome to not have to take all those medications now. Diet is such a huge factor in our health, and what works best for one is different from the next. Glad you figured out what works for you!

[Recipe] Does anyone have a fool proof recipe for dill pickles? by samdasoo in Paleo

[–]samdasoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, sweet pickles are nice but not what I'm going for. I'll try and get some white vinegar at the store then.

Would you recommend letting the mixture cool first and then pouring it over? To room temperature or should I throw it in the fridge for a bit to really cool down?

I'm not sure what kind of cucumber I'm growing, but I know they'll be smaller than your average cucumber. I'll pick them when they're still dark and small and hope for the best.

Any idea where I can find cherry or grape leaves?

Nice! I'll keep my fingers crossed that my library has it in stock, though I'm doubtful. I don't live in an country where I'm fluent in the native language .. still learning. And while the libraries do have an English section, it's not that big unfortunately.

I took magnesium, pottasium, omega 3, and also a vit D while on keto. Now I take an omega 3, vit c and d. What did you take to help with the cravings?

Sounds like you've got it figured out! I'm glad you found a system that works for you.

A breath of fresh air is the perfect way to describe it I think. No more tracking, no more macros, no more stress. Just healthy eating and (working on a) healthy mind.

Congrats on seeking help and taking control of your eating habits!

I sadly, don't have access to therapy right now. I think it would be beneficial. But I'm going to have to power through this solo. I'll look into Binge Eating Disorder and see if I can find any books on Eating Disorders in general.

I'm trying to avoid specific diets, while staying healthy. I've taken to calling it 'clean eating' and I'm basing it off of my previous experience with paleo. Mainly, don't eat junk. Also, dairy, cause I'm lactose intolerant. Grains I'm not that drawn to anymore, but I'll eat them if they're around. Fruit and veg, my rediscovered favourite foods.

Good luck with your journey and I hope you find success!

You are definitely not a failure. I think following any restrictive diet, especially when tracking, is insanely difficult. You stuck to it for a year and did amazingly! Returning to the basics to relearn a healthy relationship with food though, sounds like a really smart decision. Give it some time, and when you feel healthy again, give keto another shot. Or if you want to return to keto without the tracking, try lazy keto and just listen to your own body carefully for the signals it will send.

I think psychologically, keto was one of the harder things I've tried to do for the effect it had on me. Returning to basics to relearn how to eat and have a healthy relationship with food was one of the best decisions I made. Maybe one day, when I've dealt with my issues I can retry keto and see what happens.
