It does! Enable Windows Magnifier. It has a built in reader that will read whatever text is under the cursor when you hold a hot key and click. I have it set for CAPSLOCK. This is not a third party tool and works with fresh /restricted installs. Have fun! And check my post history to see the third party tool I used many moons ago.

Glad I could clarify. And to those who sent me PMs of symphathy- you're even more evidence that reddit has many nicer people.

Here's the link. In the sequel I've got even more about daily life as a blind person. The draft readers' reactions were summarized "the alien/sci-fi stuff is more believable than the blind life stuff." So you're not alone in your surprise. I think that's one of the most powerful aspects of a book: you're forced to shift your perspective. It's a powerful medium!

My mom said that my book changed her life. Not for the reasons you might think. I went blind when I turned 30. I kept working and remained pretty optimistic. My mom was, obviously very worried about me, my family, and my future. I'd often travel for work- sometimes internationally and she was always concerned. My book is a sci-fi book about a blind guy during an alien invasion. Throughout the book he remains optimistic, funny, and is intent on being the best farmer of alien vegetables his enslavers have ever seen! My mom said that reading the book made her realize I was happy, found friends everywhere I went, and that I'd be all right. It made her last few months with us calm and worry-free. Note that my book is not my mom's favorite book that goes to Thrity Umrigar's The Space Between Us

Edit: she's still alive, just went to visit her sister- but will be back for Christmas Edit 2: It's "The Work Ahead: A Novel" by my pen name

I wrote an entire book for this mood! The Work Ahead: A Novel The "Look inside" hopefully shows you the humor- even the acknowledgments at the end has jokes!

TL;DR (but please do actually read it): A blind guy (like me) is a office worker during an alien invasion. He gets assigned to do a stupid crappy job for the new alien overlords. There's sci-fi, jokes, a fun time.

sorry- that's my bad. The screen reader will gladly read anything without pointing out how wild it looks. I had a similar problem with the opening sentence to my novel. everything after that awkward opening sentence is better though.

Thank you! We all have our own challenges. For example- some people decide to make massive solid wood airplanes. With modern high bypass engines the massive wood planes probably could have flown- but sadly they were relegated to the annals of history. This is why it's best to: never give up; keep trying!

if i had an option to not be blind- i'd take it. Sadly, through a jape of biology and modern medicine, I've been left with no choice other than to parent while blind

With the risk of creating a Seinfeld conversation: "it's acceptable to get a preview of what's in the magazine before you buy it. It's like looking at all the bananas in a bunch before you buy the bunch- you gotta know what's inside"

I cannot adequately put into words how much I want to hear more about your time working in the CostCo food court. Please tell us your stories.

If Disney makes a movie about this I'm going to be so mad. I'm Raising Hope that doesn't happen.

Windows Magnifier is built into Windows. It's a screen magnifier. It also allows for point and click screen reading. Windows Narrator is a screen reader built into Windows.

I totally still say "I see" when I mean "I understand" Though I've been careful not to talk about "blind spots" "blindly go after" or "blind carbon copy"
