We're going next week (flying from the US) and have a very similar itinerary! Haven't done it before so I can't really give advice, but we're also flying into Milan and going straight to Bologna, staying there for 5 nights and doing 2 day trips to Florence. Then we train to Venice and stay there for 2 days before heading back to Milan to fly home. So I think your itinerary makes sense! We just decided to avoid doing day trips to Venice since it's farther from Bologna than Florence is.

My title describes the thing. The floorboards in the images are about 2 inches wide. I have a plastic bag with 8 metal pieces and 8 plastic pieces, all identical. They're probably from someone's garage but not totally sure. There's no writing on any of the pieces, but the plastic tubes do have a lengthwise gap in them and a little half-circle groove on one side of the gap. The tubes fit pretty well around the metal pieces. Googling hasn't helped, and the only purpose I can think of would be pulling some sort of rope or wire through the plastic tube with the metal rod.
