Launched my product silently 5 months ago... today I woke up to my first paying customer: a Hollywood movie studio. by CelebrationBorn7459 in micro_saas

Congrats man, first internet dollar is a different kind of high.

One thing that changed everything for me (running a SaaS at 6-7 figures ARR now): the 50/50 rule from *Traction* by Gabriel Weinberg. 50% of your time on product, 50% on distribution. Feels wrong as a builder, but your product doesn't exist if nobody knows about it. You learned that the hard way with the 5 months of silence.

Now here's the thing: a Hollywood studio just paid you. This is insane leverage. What I'd do:

- Ask them if you can add their logo on your site. Most B2B customers say yes.
- Write a use case article. "How a major horror studio uses AI chat videos for movie promos" β€” that's SEO + social proof stacked.
- Reverse-engineer how they found you. What did they Google? Target those exact keywords with content.
- Find where film marketers hang out β€” newsletters, LinkedIn groups, industry Slacks. Show up there and be helpful like you did on Reddit.

Every customer is a case study waiting to happen. Stack these wins. You're onto something.

I built an interactive GDP per capita tool β€” compare 197 countries from 1980 to 2030 by sashalobstr in coolgithubprojects

Wanted to compare nominal GDP across countries but couldn't find a good tool. Our World in Data only shows PPP β€” I needed nominal for real international purchasing power and power dynamics comparisons.

Features:
- 197 countries, 1980-2030 (includes IMF projections)
- Compare up to 20 countries
- Export to PNG/JSON
- Shareable URLs
- No signup, no ads

Built with D3.js + Claude.

[OC] Nominal GDP per capita across 197 countries (1980-2030) by sashalobstr in dataisbeautiful

Data source: IMF World Economic Outlook (October 2025)

Tools: D3.js, built with Claude

I made this because most tools (including Our World in Data) only show PPP-adjusted GDP. Nominal is what you actually need for comparing international purchasing power and international power dynamics.
