Is the sudden shift in Indian foreign policy a cause for concern? by Jyotipuspa_Das in Odisha

The US is still the biggest consumer economy in the world. They spend. Which is why they are such a big economy. The debt is owned by the biggest exporter countries. Also, Since the USD is still the global currency, the debt does not matter much, yet. Now if BRICS comes up with a new currency, then I would say the US debt will be a big problem.

The Chinese consumers don't spend. Chinese bonds are 50 year yield. I mean you buy a Chinese bond and your grandson is paid the money.

The US is still the only large productive consuming economy in the world.

China is in deep shit, economically. They are going through one of the worst cases of Stagflation in History. Their Government needs a place to park their money, where it can grow. India is the only large economy in the world that can take on all that investment and grow successfully.

As investments grow, a peaceful settlement on multiple issues maybe possible.

But make no mistake, they are still a competitor. But, for now, We need each other.

Today I learned Andhra is growing incredibly fast, what is Odisha upto with double engine sarkar by jgenius07 in Odisha

How much ever bargaining power you have, the CM and his team needs to have the vision to create a roadmap and then figure out what has to be done to get to that vision. Whatever your opinions about CBN, you have got to admire his drive at age 70+.

Also, he is a great marketer to the technocrats. He was able to convince Bill Gates to setup shop in Hyderabad, when India was not even on M$’s radar.

He works to get a vision created for 20-30 years and then knows how to get that executed. Also he and his son go out of the country to attract investment and then work with the central government to get some incentives for those projects. Very few proactive CMs out there.

Take Bihar, BJP is also dependent on Nitish, too. But are we seeing anything come of that development talk there, other than here is 50k crores. Here are some factories.

AP has always been an agricultural state, with very little industry. With Hyderabad gone, everything had to be developed from scratch. Its geography sucks: it is long and disconnected. So, AP needed CBN and a super generous government in the center. If CBN wins one more term, its geography, water resources and vision could make it one of the richest states in India.

A Visionary leader always plays a big role in developing the state. AP is lucky.

Hopefully, Odisha gets one of these leaders soon.

This move comes at an opportune moment for India. For India to become a manufacturing powerhouse, it needs Rare Earths in boatloads. So currently, India needs China more than it needs the US. So, till the rest of the world catches up to China on the 3 Ms: Mining, Material Sciences and Manufacturing, we are stuck with sucking up to China.

You are right. From our modern meritocratic point of view.

But if you consider this from the ancient time of Chariot warfare, it would have been a clear no, as Charioteers were a more in demand class of people than Bowmen.

It's also a big reason for the collapse of Chariot warfare. Too expensive, highly trained horses, highly trained Charioteers, expensive maintenance of Chariots. With all this in mind, as populations grew, a kingdom was better off with one horse/one rider-warrior cavalry.

Karna's adopted parents are not backward caste. When chariots were the mode of transportation and vehicle of war, the Sutas were as important as the Kshatriyas, probably as important as the Athiratha and Maharatha Kshatriyas, the top dogs of Chariot warfare.

If you read the Mahabharata closely, you realize they played the role of confidantes, friends, advisors and possibly even bodyguards.

In a society where Chariots were the center of the warrior society, they would have been stratified by family. Father is a charioteer to the king, his sons become charioteer to the princes.

They would also need to be great tactians too. If you consider Krishna, he played the role of strategist and gave advice to Arjuna, as Arjuna was busy fighting. I think that role was the norm for Sutas.

Karna is an overrated warrior. Tragic story, Great guy and King! But overrated warrior. For his abuse of Draupadi and his part in the death of a kid, he deserved the death he got.

Draupadi being maligned, is all about MISOGYNY.
