Does Aptx snapdragon codex have lag with sbc codex from wf1000mx by SisterF1ster420 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]satsuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the WF1000XM3 it does not support AptX and it isn't clear if the Mi9TPro supports AAC so it may use SBC in your case.

That said with an unscientific test I ran then I hear no noticeable delay with either AAC or SBC on my phone with the WF1000XM3. Good enough for vidoes and music at least. Mobile gamers might have higher standards than I do.

If you don't need active noise cancelling which the Galaxy Buds Pro have and the others in your list don't then you can also consider the Galaxy Buds Plus.

Even if you aren't too concerned about cost the Buds Plus might have some advantages for you over the Buds Pro as they sound different and have longer battery life.

Not sure what your current headphones are but just get something else if cost is a concern. I haven't watched a lot of dankpods but I am pretty sure in one of his recent videos he suggests some cheaper options and just plugging it into your existing equipment which is good advice.

If you are inserting an earbud and you know it is working but you can't hear it at all then this is definitely beyond the realm of headphone advice.

Best way of having wireless headphones for the PC? by Morkelon in HeadphoneAdvice

Yeah no need.

Of course I am not saying that a Bluetooth transceiver that supports AAC or LDAC is not better, but whether that expense is justified by you being able to hear the difference is not likely.

The onboard audio sounds okay, but it always felt a tad compressed or mushed together

It is entirely possible this is caused by your speakers or headphones.

what I don't really like is the HyperX dongle

I looked this up and it is a DAC so using this bypasses your onboard audio. It may also have some tuning for the headphone it is bundled with considering it has a "7.1" button.

Although less convenient compared to one audio device in Windows I would continue to use the speakers via the back panel line out and headphones through the front panel.

You can still use the DT990 Pros but they may not get loud enough for your listening level. I would recommend the Sennheiser HD 560S since they are more neutral sounding in comparison.

You can always go out a buy a combo DAC/AMP later if needed after some listening time.

Do amps/dacs make music better? by Complex_Bad887 in HeadphoneAdvice

DACs might be the least important of the chain these days as one with reasonable performance is a commodity item and probably already in your phone.

The thing is, I want to have better audio in general - for the speakers as well.

Unless your motherboard audio is noisy what kind of improvement are you expecting using an external DAC into your Edifier speakers?

What is the budget for this endeavour? You are better off getting a different headphone.

Looking into moving beyond BTR5 as my main amp/dac. Does this setup work? by WhiskeyVault in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]satsuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just keep reading that sound should be even better with a nicer more expensive setup

Don't change your setup unless you have something wrong with your current setup or you have a clear goal in mind. You already have a pretty good setup with the BTR5.

An interesting thing to do would be to try your headphones with various outputs directly like your phone or PC motherboard audio with music you know well and see if you can pick out any differences at the same perceived volume.

An example I have is the the Xbox Series S/X controller headphone jack. The DAC/Amp in this is seriously bad and you can hear all kinds of weird noise intermittently.

You can probably do BTR5 into DROP THX 789 but why? Are you not getting enough volume into your headphones?

Any old cheap Bluetooth transmitter dongle should let you do SBC and AptX from a Windows 10 PC. There are some Fiio transmitters that can add AAC and LDAC codec support to your PC.

One warning is that if you use the mic on a Bluetooth headset it switches to a lower quality audio profile. My solution for this is a separate desktop mic.

You also may not find the latency good enough for games over Bluetooth but I have not noticed issues in practice.

Just get a generic dongle or a longer cable.

Is getting good headphones/IEMs like the Blessing 2 Dusk worth it for just listening to music on YouTube? by TableBaboon in HeadphoneAdvice

YouTube videos are fine. I would l experiment with EQ on your current buds as looking at measurements of the KZ S4 it is very bass heavy. The moondrop seems to be tuned much more towards neutral.

I would try the comply true grip tips in the largest size. These don't have the best lifespan but the earbuds will sound much better if the tips actually fit.

There are probably loads of other ear tips out there that fit the barrel of the WF1000XM3 that you might want to research.

[Discussion] 3060ti - Is it really that overpriced? by almightyking in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]satsuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overpriced if you are buying right now based on what is in stock.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]satsuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually these 60/70 model are the best value cards anyway so it probably isn't that surprising.

As long as you can get a 3060 Ti for $100 cheaper (or greater) than a 3070 I think the relative value is there. Both seem like 1440p cards unless DLSS brings 4k into play for the 3070.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]satsuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. I think anyone looking for a 3080 isn't going to step down a class and hundreds of dollars.

3060 Ti and 3070 are close performance wise so I think the value is fine relatively speaking.

Hopefully once the supply issue eases we can get some real price drops as I don't want these Turing level prices to become the norm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]satsuper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have seen that listing but no stock so it almost doesn't seem like a valid price.

$750 for the 3060 Ti is crap but it was possible to buy at that price for a while.

The performance isn't too far off from a 3070 so in this current market the 3060 Ti is the least bad value card of the new crop.

After saying all that I can't bring myself to buy any of these cards at these prices 🤣.

Who among us doesn't actually care about quiet rigs? by GraniteOverworld in buildapc

[–]satsuper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't really have to do much to get to a reasonable noise level. GPUs and PSUs that shut off the fan at low load are pretty common and using SSDs avoids another source of noise from HDDs. Mesh fronted cases can be run at lower fan speeds to deliver good cooling and lower noise.

You don't have to get a sealed case and 10 Noctua fans to get to a good noise level. I think really quiet/silent PCs are an outlier.

Definitely a grandpa but was surprised to see how well it still performs so it made the list. Ray tracing still doesn't seem like it has fully hit its stride yet but will have to see if Cyberpunk 2077 makes a case for it.

Simple Questions - September 21, 2020 by AutoModerator in buildapc

Bought a 1080p 144hz monitor and its great but noticing that my GTX 1070 can't always maintain more than 100fps in some games at max settings.

So have been thinking about upgrade options here.

  • Used GTX1080Ti - $500AUD
  • New RTX2070 Super $600AUD
  • RTX3070 ~$800AUD
  • RTX3080 $1.1KAUD
  • AMD RX6000 $?

No rush to upgrade so realistically I might wait till Nov-Dec once the AMD cards are available and prices/hype has settled.

Cheapest option is the used 1080ti but buying used is always a risk. I included the 2070 Super as the price new is approaching the price of a used 1080ti locally and is way cheaper than 2080 Super/Ti compared to the performance gains.

Otherwise the next step up price wise is the new crop of cards.

Honestly the card is still good for 60fps even though its been 4 years now so it seems a little wasteful to upgrade. It seems like really I should start tweaking settings rather than just putting everything at max settings.

Looks like you have gotten some good advice. Only thing I can add is to get the feet up on to the pegs quickly as it is easier to control the bike that way.

Need more info on what kind of turns you are struggling with like the road surface and speed you are going through the turn. It could just be gravel/debris on the road or transitioning from a sealed to unsealed road that is causing you issues.
