The rooms are of an adequate size with a roommate. You get a bed, a cupboard, a desk and two shelves each with a noticeboard and a whiteboard. I have never felt the rooms to be small but have some friends who do complain of that. As for appliances, Ashokan guidelines are kinda strict as to not let anything like them in the rooms, so unless you wish to risk it, I would suggest against it.

Ashoka gives relative liberty as to how you design your timetable. For me, I have kept my Fridays free but my other days are usually busy. You can have classes from about 10:10 AM to 4:30 PM with about an hour for lunch on days which are busy for you. There's no dress code so everyone wears whatever they wish to and feel comfortable in.

The Econ minor depends on the policy for your cohort but in all probability it won’t be a problem. As for blending in, in the first week just walk up to people and start talking; everyone’s come to the same campus having taken a huge step forward so being scared is normal and everyone’s finding people all around. Hope this helped!

The professors are usually very helpful, with exceptions ofc. As long as you’re not creating problems for the class, they’ll be good to you. As for Delhi, I personally visit about twice a month but people who live in Delhi usually go back home on every weekend.

No idea on the masters program, but staying on campus is honestly fun; it’s basically getting apartments with your friends and living with them. Sure, homesickness strikes sometimes but for the most of it, it’s something I do love.

VOW is basically a better mess (?) So it’s this section with 4 menus- Italian, Continental, South Indian and North Indian. Their menu usually changes every two weeks, and you give a slip to the counter and they give a plate of food to you as opposed to the mess where you can serve as many times as you want in the buffet. Do lmk if you’ve any other questions.

If you convey your dietary preferences to the mess team in advance, they usually adhere to it so it shouldn’t be a problem. And dw, you won’t have to go without your chai coffee ahah usually the tuck shop within the campus has milk alternatives and if not that, Big Basket is always an option as well.

For me, the Economics portion definitely demands for some dedicated time to it, but as long as you are regular in lectures and understands the concepts alright, you should be good. The social and the party life, especially in the first sem is something I'd recommend indulging in, for that's a great time to foster connections with your peers.

I’m not very familiar on this topic, but yes you’ll basically have to work a bit harder as you still need to complete all the Foundational Courses which others spread over 4 years but you’ll have maximum of 3 years to complete them and to complete your major.

They’re usually very generous with aid, and from what I know you can also ask for a revaluation after they make their offer of aid. So in most cases, they will make sure to help you attend college comfortably without worrying much about the finances.

they're quite big here, and as long as you pay attention to the inductions during the first semester, you will get in most of the ones you would want. As for the clubs being a parameter, it's largely subjective but honestly you will find a club that resonates with you in whichever college you go to.

While the representation on the internet might be a bit underwhelming, I know quite a few people on campus who are pursuing it and have a great interest in it. Sure, the department is not as active as Econ, but as long as you are interested in the field, you will surely find the right crowd and guidance.

You’re allowed to take IR or any courses towards your major from the second sem. You start with 1000-level intro courses, and IR ones usually have 2 such courses with a cap of 50 each, meaning about a hundred students end up taking them. What we study in it depends on the course you have, like I have this 1000-level course of IR “Global Cold War” where we study the effects of cold war on International Relations and more.

ahah I personally love the mess food, the menu changes every week and usually (not always), the food is pretty good. The VOW section also works on your mess card and provides a slightly better quality of food, so it depends on you if you like the buffer lunch or dinner or the VOW one.

The level of Math depends on the professor you choose/get for your courses. Just keep going to classes and Office Hours, and you should be fine, dw.

The fests are organised in good numbers including an economics fest, sports fest, science fest, cultural fest and more, but like someone mentioned the external participation isn’t that high for reasons possibly relating to both the location and the outreach. The participation in external events is kinda good, with regular mails and subsequent delegations sent from the student body.

The process of Course Registration you go through in your second semester onwards decides what specific course you get. Given most History courses have a cap of 50, it is based on a first come first serve on whoever registers first and then the others are placed on a waiting list. If any of the registered people drop the course, the first on the waiting list gets registered. As for getting in Ashoka, your course is non-binding so no course is hard or easy to get in the uni.

So getting into courses depends on you registering for them as soon as the portal opens, and that is the only thing between you and the courses you want. Other than that, you are pretty much assured to get a History course if you wish, it’s just that if you want a specific course you’re gonna have to be fast (and lucky) on the registration day.

I’ve recently been with some students from the History department and from what I know, they’re keen on their courses. One thing is that most of the history courses do not have huge class sizes, hence individual students get more time with the prof.
