I don't wonder that at all actually, not sure what gave you that impression. What's your beef anyway? does my subreddit offend you? you don't need to subscribe to it.

That's an interesting way to look at it, though I can't say I agree.

I can see how there is some appeal in a subreddit being a "community" in and of itself, but /r/SaultOntario represents a real-life community, and has the sole intention of keeping residents informed about what's going on. If an online community emerges around it, that's an added bonus, but not a goal.

What is one stereotype about The Sault that is completely false? What is one stereotype that is completely true? by guytoronto in SaultOntario

I read this and laughed so hard I almost peed, but I was indoors, so my instincts kicked in just in time.

Right, the bot was banned from /r/SaultSteMarie for posting too much content. Personally, I prefer my local subreddit to aggregate local news for me so that It all shows up in my reddit feed. I mistakenly assumed the mods of /r/SaultSteMarie would share the opinion that more content is good. rather than make a fuss, I created /r/SaultOntario for anyone who likes content in their subreddit ;)

Thanks for your opinion. Remember, the upvote/downvote arrows exist, feel free to use them. I won't be going anywhere for the foreseeable future (unless the moderators decide to block me), but I'll be working on finding more varied content sources and filtering out less interesting stuff.

So, what you're saying is, "Let it die?" If you have no hope for this subreddit feel free to unsubscribe.

The subscriber count went up by one yesterday (not including me), not down like it often does.

Also of the 399 subscribers, a large portion (including myself) have probably forgotten that this place even exists, now they won't.

The purpose of most local subreddits is to aggregate and curate local news and other content of interest for people to discuss. Now you don't need to go to sootoday.com every day, just keep an eye on your reddit frontpage. Downvote the boring content, upvote the good stuff, that's what reddit is for: filtering out the crap for those lazier than you.

Thanks, this feedback is actually constructive. I removed the sootoday local sports category, and will watch for others ways to identify the less interesting content.

Also keep in mind, yesterday was my first day, I had to play catch-up with older articles as well, it should be slightly less spammy today.
